If a caster is used, 2.16-inch is clearance between floor and bottom of cart. Assembly required. I have recently moved. I have no space for a desk. I saw this item listed at Amazon and it seemed to be what I need for a 'portable office' to help me out. And I think it will. If I ever get it assembled! I've finally managed to get the five drawers put together. They're standing along the wall, waiting. I have the 'glides' for the drawers screwed to the side panels but need someone to hold them firm so I can attach the top and bottom. Without the top and bottom, this item makes no sense. I'm 81 and crippled, confined to a power chair, and figured this chest would be good for the things I use on a daily basis, and I could wheel it around so I don't leave my office, I take it with me! If I can ever get it put together. If you see an ad that says 'simple assembly', ignore it! They lie like a rug! There is nothing simple about this item. There's a lot of screwing involved here and remember I'm 81. And crippled. Perhaps a healthy 21-year-old could put it together, bit by bit, piece by piece, playing Sondheim in the background! ... show more

Put them both up and the drawers are off on both. Put together exactly like instructions but all of the drawers won't push in.

Aside from being tedious to assemble (hint: you'll want a power screwdriver), these units end up looking very much like a DIY construction project. The drawers don't fit or slide particularly well, and they only pull out halfway making it hard to reach what' in the back of the drawer. As another reviewer pointed out, the drawers aren't as deep as the whole cabinet, so there's 2 to 3 inches of wasted space at the rear of the drawers -- not sure why they designed it this way. Possibly because larger drawers wouldn't pack neatly in the carton, or possibly to have a larger wheelbase for stability. Either way, it's a waste of space in my closet. Likewise, there's about an inch of wasted vertical space between drawers. Note that you can choose to not use the wheels during assembly, if you want it to stay in a fixed location; this would remove about 2 inches from the height. ... show more

My mother needed some extra desk drawer space when she down-sized to her new senior apartment. This was the perfect size and the material is heavier and nicer looking than most "self -assembled" furniture. never managed to fully assemble.it looks like it would have been fine though.something was preventing me from doing it all the way and there's too much to put together.especially since i was putting it together by myself
