A combination window-breaker and seatbelt cutter is an important safety tool to keep handy and accessible in a car. It can be difficult to open a door or window when a car is submerged or becoming submerged – this tool is critical to keep handy. I have given window-breaker and seat-belt cutter tools to each member of my family. Positives for this particular device: 1: Excellent size. It fits in the console box. Use the double-sided tape that is already on the unit so that it stays in place in the console box and you know just where to find it. Remember, you may need to find this in a hurry when the car is upside down or in the darkness. 2: The window-shatterer is spring loaded. That is a great benefit if you have to use it in water, where it might be difficult to swing a window-shattering hammer with sufficient force. 3: Helpful that this device comes with a piece of glass for you to practice shattering. Good to get a feeling for how to use it, and the pressure required to shatter glass. SUGGESTION: If there is a junkyard in your area, see if they’ll let you break a few front driver and passenger windows on the wrecks to test it. Know what you need to do before the emergency happens. But there are some alerts about this and any window-shattering device: ALERT 1: These types of window-breakers only work on tempered glass. They do not work on laminated glass. That means they work on most side windows, but not on front or rear windows. ***ALSO – There are lists of cars with laminated glass side windows. Check to see if your car is on the list.*** ALERT 2: When using these on tempered glass windows, usually you should try to place it closer to the edge or corner where the window is the weakest. If there is a junkyard in your area, ask them if you can practice with the tool on one of the wrecks. Know what you need to do before the emergency happens. ALERT 3: You want to keep this in a place that is accessible in case of an emergency. Think about where you will keep this. A glove box may be difficult to reach if you are being held in place by your seatbelt. The tool could easily fall out of the open storage bin on the door of a car, especially if the car has turned over in a crash. Think about where you will keep it in your car. I decided to get this to have on hand in the event of an emergency. I like that it has the belt cutter and the window breaker. The caps just pull off the ends for use. I don't currently have a way to test it out, but I can only hope it will work as needed if the situation arises. It also comes with a little clamp holder with an adhesive on it to mount in the vehicle, I question its quality a bit because it looks a bit cheap. I kinda wish it had a keychain attachment instead, but that's personal preference. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I'm a pretty small woman, with arthritic hands; so I really wondered if I could make this safety hammer work. I've always had a horror of being trapped in a vehicle (especially if it's submerged), and after a case in the news of someone drowning before they could escape, it has been on my mind. Although I have a more traditional hammer, I was pretty sure I'd never be able to swing it with enough force to break anything, especially underwater. So I jumped at the chance to try out a spring-loaded window breaker. Although this came with a piece of glass to test it, I wanted to try it on a real car window. I was lucky enough to find a junker and a friendly owner. And WOW! I couldn't believe the results. At first, I didn't think anything would happen; even though you are only supposed to gently press once on each corner, I tried several presses on just one; watch the video to see what happened. I have absolutely no doubt I'd be able to break out any tempered glass windows. (Do be aware that you can't break out laminated glass, such as windshields and some newer front windows; be aware which windows in your vehicle are breakable. Also be very sure to put this where it can be accessed in an emergency; I am practicing just in case. Another person suggested a very good idea; put some glow-in-the-dark paint on the spring-loaded end.) This is a must-have as far as I'm concerned. This product came with the following: 1 tool, 1 small attachment that you can stick anywhere in your car to hold the tool, and 1 circular piece of glass that can be used to test the window breaker. As described, the tool has a glass breaker on one side and a seatbelt cutter on the other. The tool is cute looking. I got it in the color red so that it's easier to spot in an emergency situation. I wasn't expecting it to come with the glass piece to test, so it was a nice surprise. It was great to be able to test the tool to make sure it worked and that I knew how to use it. It took two successful pushes to break the glass. It took a bit more force to break than I expected. I did not test the seatbelt cutter, but it looks like it should work. ... show more

I ordered this item because I think it's important for anyone who drives a car to have one. One would hope to never have to use it, because that would mean you are in a dire situation. So don't get caught up with out one. This item is lightweight and the caps are pull off and not twist off so that makes it simple. The glass shattering piece is covered, which is great because its a pointed piece. You just press down hard against the glass and the point pops out to shatter the window. The opposite end is simple. You just place the seat belt in the open end and pull so the razor cuts through the seatbelt. Again this is a must have! ... show more
