  • Bought for working out on functional trainer, but wear them a LOT more than I thought I would
Size: 10 Color: 1_ Blackgum
The primary reason I purchased these was because of the grippy, flat, zero drop sole to get a perfect grip on the floor while performing standing lifts on our functional trainer. It has more grip than expected and that's excellent, since there's no concern about slipping and that's ECELLENT. When you're performing standing cable presses and flys, you aren't just working out the targeted muscle group, you're working out every muscle and stabilizer in the chain all the way to the floor. Cable workouts are unlike any other in this way and it's a fantastic workout. If your feet aren't stable and traction isn't exceptional, you can slip. Slipping doesn't merely render the exercise ineffective, it can result in injury and equipment damage. The WHITIN Cross-Trainer, barefoot, minimalist, zero drop shoe is the perfect shoe for a cable workout. I read and watched video reviews of this type of shoe. Many note that you'll need an adjustment period going from typical modern tennis / running shoes to barefoot / zero drop shoes. This is because you will engage muscles in your feet you don't engage while wearing those shoes and engage other muscles more, like your calves. Because I have been wearing flat soled Merrill water shoes around the house, yard, for errands over the last several months, I didn't experience the need for an adjustment period and was able to wear these all day without issue. I wear these a lot more than I expected, and I like the way they feel on my feet. If you step on something, you can feel the shape of it, I haven't experienced any pain from that. This style of shoe strengthens your feet, calves and ankles. I have a chronic right ankle issue due to a severe injury and multiple reinjuries over the years. I declined surgical intervention due to the recovery time and the likelihood of reinjury. I was surprised to discover that wearing these shoes not only don't aggravate my ankle, but also feel as though the ankle is more stable and less likely to roll. After my experience with the Whitin shoes, I started looking at other similar shoes and found a pair here on Amazon that I really liked the design of, so I bought a second pair of zero drop barefoot shoes as I plan on wearing this type of shoe as often as I can get away with. ... show more

  • Leg Day Staple
Size: 11 Color: Black/Gum
I bought these to use strictly in the gym during leg day splits because running shoes are not ideal for stability when lifting heavy. So far so good; I can definitely feel the difference in ground contact and it's much safer than lifting in only my socks. I use custom orthotics and they fit perfectly in the shoe. My only qualm with this shoe is that the toe box is more narrow than I expected, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. Other reviews had mentioned that so even though I measured my feet according to their sizing chart, I heeded the other warnings. I usually wear a men's 10.5 wide because I have long bony feet and don't like the toe box sides rubbing the bones of my feet. As a woman with large feet, I've grown accustomed to wearing men's athletic shoes because finding larger women's sizes is almost impossible. Because there's no 10.5, I decided to size up to their size 11 and I'm so thankful I did. The 11 fits how my everyday Asics Kayanos 10.5 extra wide fit my feet. So if you've got larger or wider feet, I'd recommend sizing up because even with the size up, there's only about a half inch from the tip of my big toe to the top of the shoe. ... show more

  • Long lasting, extremely comfortable
Size: 8.5 Color: 2_ Black
The best shoes i have ever owned! I had issues with plantar fasciitis and spent hundreds of dollars on special shoes and inserts that were supposed to help, but never helped (and in some cases, made it worse). I never had issues when actually barefoot so i thought i would try barefoot shoes and haven't had plantar fasciitis issues since. I will still have some aches and pains in my legs in general if I'm on my feet all day, but not the sharp crippling pain of fasciitis flare ups. I bought 2 more pairs as backups because i loved them so much but didn't think the thinner soles would last very long. Boy was i wrong! I have been wearing the first pair of shoes for 5 years and they are still fully in tact, no splits, cracks, rips, tears at all. The backups are still in my closet, brand new and unopened. ... show more

  • Excellent leisure shoe NOT cross-trainer, runs a half size small
Size: 12.5 Color: 3-1_ Dark Grey
Bought the wide toe-box trail shoe from the same company and it fit perfectly at size 12 or 45 cm. This one runs small, especially if you have wider feet, so you may have to size up a half size. The 12 1/2 or 46 cm fit me perfectly after the return and exchange. This is a VERY comfortable shoe, but is not really built for the support and rugged use of the trail shoe. I walked 7 miles in these "cross trainers" (really athletic leisure shoe) in a mix of trail and street, and my back could feel it, unlike the trail shoe which has adequate support and no problems with my back. These would function better to play croquet than engage in serious sport. ... show more

  • Almost perfect
Size: 8.5 Color: 3-1_ White/Gum
I wore these for 10 days in Europe with up to 15 miles per day and my feet did pretty well. Certain socks would rub the wrong way in the toe box, not sure why, but they were super comfortable besides that. My feet did get sore at night, but I went from lounging around to walking 15 miles the first day, so that was expected and I don’t blame the shoe for that. They got unbelievably dirty as expected but unfortunately, even with scotch guard, did not clean up well, so they went in the trash when we got home. They’re super good-looking though and my husband ended up with a pair of black ones for when he travels (he travels almost weekly). I tried on probably 5 other pairs of white sneakers and these were the only one I knew my feet could handle for a trip to Europe. ... show more

  • Really great fit for wide feet
Size: 12 Color: Black/Gum
I was apprehensive about trying these because my knee has problems with most flat shoes, but these are pretty good. My only complaint is I couldn't handle the lack of padding in the sole. I tried them for a couple of weeks, but my feet were hurting everyday. I went and got a general padded insole and that solved the problem. These are also proving to be quite durable, which I think is the most surprising thing about them. after a couple months of using them, I haven't noticed really any wear and tear. Also they are somewhat water resistant which is cool. ... show more
