  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Used and abused by yours truly
Size: 8.5 Color: 3-1_ White/Gum
I'll try to make this quick I got these shoes to see how I'd feel about the barefoot feeling And they feel great. I wear them all the time, inside and out. I will say, I'm an 8.5, and ordered such, and these are a tiny bit too big on me in terms of length. But they do feel rather small in terms of the size of the toe box. They feel very similar to my New Balance trail running shoes in the toe area. 2.5 hour hiking trips really helped my feet get used to these shoes Although, if you are unable to walk a lot on dirt with these shoes to start off. TAKE IT SLOW. Do not injure your self by transitioning too fast. I'm able to walk just fine on any surface for extended periods at this point I have been heavily slowed down when I wear these on the coast on my hikes because of how rocky it is, the rocks do hurt my feet some. Although it is getting better and better with the more my feet grow stronger These shoes are incredibly grippy. The only time it isn't grippy for me is when I'm inside and the tile floor is wet. But wet rocks, logs, dirt, mud, all of those I feel more confident walking on and in with these shoes than my New Balance trail running shoes that cost me $140. I have noticed a better and more responsive connection to whatever I'm doing when I'm wearing these compared to my other shoes. In a very good way it makes me want to jump on things more, and just explore more. It could just be placebo, I have no idea. But it is there for me. I have noticed my legs get stronger than they already are(I bike a lot, so I have strong legs), especially with balance and the ability to go onto my knees from a standing position. If you want to get into barefoot shoes for a good price, this is a good option. If you get the white shoes. They are blindingly bright when you first get them. Once mine got a little dirty, I liked them a lot more. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Very comfortable light weight shoe
Size: 12.5 Color: Black/Gum
Been wearing these for about 5 months now daily. Use them for everyday use, walking and working out. No running but for basic exercises that's not agility related they work well. Likes...light weight, easy slip on and off, looks decent and can wear them with just about anything casual to business casual, reasonable breathing if you like to go sockless, good for water as well. Dislikes...no arch support what so ever, back is flexible and loose so it could slip off more easily than expected and foot moves around a lot. If you do go sockless a lot then prepare to wash them regularly. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pair of shoes
Size: 12.5 Color: 3-1_ White/Gum
I have been wearing my Whitin's every day for about 6 months now. I absolutely love them. They are comfortable, flexible, durable, lightweight and stylish. I honestly can't believe they only cost $40. The sole is so flexible you can literally stretch your toes and arch with the shoes on. Also, I walk about 8-10k steps per day and the sole has barely started to wear, not to mention that there is no visible wear on the upper portion. Additionally, they clean up extremely well - I have cleaned my shoes 6 times now and they look brand new every time. This is undoubtedly one of the best pairs of shoes I have ever owned. I actually bought two more pairs to gift to my friends and clients. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars 1.75 Year Review
Size: 9 Color: 1_ Blue
Wore these shoes almost every day for almost two years (1.75) averaging around 8K steps a day, mostly man-made surfaces, with occasional trails and hikes. If you are looking to buy into minimal zero-drop shoes, I believe these are a good place to start. It took me a minute to get used to them. When I did, it made it hard to take them off and my feet and joints have thanked me. They were (and still very much are) *my favorite shoes.* So much so, I have purchased reserve pairs for future replacements and also several other other styles. - PROS -- Wide, zero drop, hyper-flexible comfort that is almost, kinda, like being bare foot -- More natural (for me) heal strike, gate during walking and running (knee issues have disappeared) -- Durable relative to lightweight materials used -- Easy slip on/slip off; pull string set and forget laces -- Many complements on look and questions on function -- *Much* cheaper than big-brand shoes -CONS -- Not for the cushioned/firm support-addicted consumer -- Prolonged use may result in "normal" shoes feeling really uncomfortable -- Snazzy style is hard to wear in office environment -- Will feel large pointy rocks or edges through sole -- 20% price increase over the last two years Pictures show wear patterns after 1.75 years for those interested. Heal on left sole was the first to wear through, with right sole close behind. Ball of feet were just starting to wear flush. Wear was normal and as expected. (WHITIN - Recommend moving the heal strike [round pad] from inside to outside to increase durability and better align with average walking/running gate. I do not believe people normally strike to the inside of the heal.) ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Worth evey penny!
Size: 11 Color: 1_ Dark Grey
Hi, I bought these before a trip to Maui. First vacation without kids since 2007. I knew we would be in the ocean a lot and would have to deal with rocks. Not only did they work great there, but also climbing the rocks walking up to waterfalls. We took multiple hikes inland following creeks to waterfalls. These shoes over-performed. The were comfortable and protected my feet. Would definitely purchase them again. I am 59 and enjoy being surprised by the quality of products I buy today...so much crap out there. These are extremely well made and comfortable. Buy them! ... show more
