  • Good quality shoes, but they didn't work for me
Size: 9 Color: 2_ Camo Green
I should make clear that my mediocre rating (3 stars) has nothing to do with the quality of the shoes materials and workmanship, and probably not for the design. Based on prior reviews, many people clearly like these. But they didn't work for me. This was my first experience with this kind of shoe. In my 72 years, I've worn dress shoes, athletic shoes, sandals (Chacos are my top), and boots of all kind. But never anything like this. But I wanted something light weight for workouts with my flow ropes, so thought I'd try these out. UPS delivered mine about 11 am this morning. I wore them around my apartment for a few hours on hardwood floors, a bit of carpet, and a rubber kitchen mat. By 3 pm, I'd decided to return them. There are multiple reasons why, in no particular order. 1) They are a PITA to put on. Since there is no tongue, they don't open wide like shoes with a real tongue. Worse, the loop on the back above the heel is so small that getting my index finger into it was difficult -- and I have small hands for man (I wear size small gloves). If both ends of the loop were sewn on the outside, it would work. But one end is outside, the other end inside, so it straddles the edge. 2) I've been wearing size 9 everything for decades. So I purchased size 9 (42) because they are reportedly true to size. But these were at least an inch too long for me. I guess I could have lived with it, but ... 3) I laced them up very loosely -- actually time with the laces completely untied -- yet they felt very tight across the top of my foot (the "bridge" just forward from my ankle). And that's even with my narrow feet (I'm a 9A.) When sitting or lying in my hammock, I felt that my foot was going to go to sleep -- that tingling sensation. I was wearing a lightweight sock -- lightest I had, so that contributed. I know that most people wear these without socks, but I hate that, and these were not comfortable on my bare skin at all. I suppose I could have ordered some thin, dress socks, but I really never wear that kind. 4) This last factor is what made me decide to return them. The top of the opening -- a lightly padded "ridge" -- rubs against my ankle on the outside of my foot -- the ankle "bump". It was starting to chafe after only moderate movement (dance movements to simulate exercise). So, again, I'm not knocking the design -- lots of people like them -- nor the quality of materials or workmanship. But they didn't work for me. I'm going to order a new pair of Chacos and call it good. ... show more

  • Good barefoot choice, but toe box is narrow.
Size: 10 Color: 3-1_ Black
I like the construction on these a lot so far. I live in Hawaii, so I prefer my feet to be able to breathe. These really allow that due to the mesh design, and so they stay comfortable where other shoes I use are not. I often wear a size 44 but I've been getting 43 lately, as I did with these, and it fits great with little to no excess toe room (which I like because it makes the shoe feel snug and form fitted). I'd say they are true to size. The sole has a bit more rubber than my typical preference but again in Hawaii this is nice because I spend a lot of time on lava rocks which absolutely demolishes barefoot shoes. My only complaint is that the toe box is narrow. My feet, despite wearing barefoot for nearly a decade, remain rather narrow. So this works for me. But if you have wide feet or your toes have a healthy spread, these are going to be too narrow for you. Check the measurements and consider how you like shoes to fit. These will feel good, comfortable and breathable for most people I think, but if you know you have wider feet or a wider toe spread, just know that you're pushing it with these shoes. That being said, I would totally buy them again and recommend them. ... show more

  • Shoes are great, especially for plantar fascitis
Size: 8.5 Color: 3-1_ Black
These shoes are impeccable I'm on my second pair of shoes, and after researching how minimalist shoes help with foot pains and ankle mobility I had to get in on them, I usually work out with no shoes on but now I work out with these shoes. For support, I felt, even though there is no real support but the small padding it comes with (i took mine out) the fact that you can roll through your entire foot helped reduce the foot pains I received from being on my feet all day at work (CNA) and improved my overall fitness ability since there is no rubber bottom acting like a heel. The only downside (which for me isn't one) is that you feel everything through your shoe, especially if you do what I did and remove the insole, for example, if your going on a run and step on an acorn you may feel it. Otherwise like I said these shoes are amazing for me, I'm on my second pair and I bought one for my brother, would recommend it to others! ... show more
