  • My sons received these when they were young so now I am giving them to my grandchildren.
They are a Christmas gift so not sure of the longevity but excited to be giving them to my grandchildren.

  • They're a lot of fun but do NOT hold up well.
These wee guns are a hoot! However I have to take off a star because they are NOT meant to withstand the abuse that comes from a three and six year old. Within a couple of days my youngest pulled the trigger too hard, too many times and broke the connection within the trigger. I had to open it up and reconnect it but by doing so I broke off the top, plastic housing. Ugh. I ended up chucking them both in the garbage after I was harassed multiple times to repair this one and then fix that one. Again and again. Needless to say they'll make another appearance this year c/o Santa himself becaus they were such a hit last year. They make those classic laser blaster noises. Like the ones from that Radio shack gun my brother got back in 1985. Just not quite so loud. But still just as irritating. Hence the reason why my boys loved these things so much. ... show more

  • 3 star adult rating, 5 star child rating
For me, this is a three star product. Mainly because you can't change the battery, so whenever it dies, its just trash. Also, the 70's Arcade game sounds, while bearable, aren't as bearable on a super loud setting, which can't be changed. However, my six year old, who received this as a birthday gift from his younger brother, is looking over my shoulder and tells me it needs to be five stars "Because I love it, mommy!" So there we are. Three stars from the adult for being extremely loud and not being able to change the batteries, and five from the happy recipient. And yes, they are tiny. Pocket sized, in fact. Your child can sneak it into church and you won't know until that awkward moment! But seriously, I see the appeal. The kids LOVE this product. Part of me is hopeful that the unchangeable battery wears out sooner than later. It really is ridiculously loud! UPDATE: I have recently changed the batteries, after some difficulty. The colored plastic piece on top must be removed first (back to front removal). Then the back of the handle must be carefully pried open, the batteries removed, then the new batteries carefully replaced without the wire popping out of the projecting plastic bar (you'll know it when you see it). If the wire pops out, the circuit will be broken and power from the battery will not be able to reach the chip that is connected to the trigger. Still 3 stars because the kids love it. ... show more

  • Worth the price, but you get what you pay for
Really fun toys. The design is nice and the plastic is of good quality, molded well, and has a nice sheen. I mention this because I've seen cheap clones of these for twice the cost at a well-known crafts store. The clones were made of a really cheap looking, dull, lackluster plastic and some text stamped across the gun. One of mine broke internally (the trigger cracked from the pressure of the spring/switch) after being used a number of times over 2-3 weeks, but I can't complain for $2.50. It was fixable, though. I was able to carefully pry the gun open at the seam and super-glue the trigger where it cracked. I had to hold it in a clamp overnight to make sure it bonded. After that, it was just reassembly, which is easy with the plastic clips that hold the gun together. ... show more

  • 5 stars for fun, 3 stars for ease of breaking
These are awesome! My 3 year old loves them! Got them in his stocking and he and daddy played non stop. However, as severa others have stated, when dropped the handle popped open and batteries flew out. Since they are so inexpensive, I bought a second set, replaced the one where he batteries popped out and off they went. We have hard wood floors. Less than 24 hours after giving him the replacement, that one was dropped and popped slightly open, dislodging one battery. I got out some tweezers and small screw driver and carefully popped both halves of gun open. (Remove the colored plastic piece carefully first.) I was able to put the batteries back in, replace the spring connector and pop back together. Now they all work. I cut a small piece of duct tape and secured the two halves at bottom of handle to prevent further popping open. Yes, this was a lot of work for a toy that cost several dollars, but my son is so happy now, the trouble was worth it. 5 stars for fun, 3 stars for the hassle of fixing. ... show more
