The finish on the shelves is attractive. The color is lighter than I expected as they appeared like a dark walnut coloring in the photo. With the lighter coloring, the black brackets "stand out" against the color of the shelves. I was also surprised that each bracket had only one screw per bracket. They did supply small plastic anchors for a drywall/plaster installation but I did not use them as I was attaching the shelf directly into a wooden wall. I understand they are light weight, but I'm not sure that anything more than a small plant would be more than the screws could handle. I would not be comfortable filling the shelf with books. For installation purposes, I'd point out that the directions should suggest a small level as part of the suggested equipment to have on hand. ... show more

When this arrives you will find 3 shelves with 6 brackets and surprisingly there were 12 tiny screws and 6 long wall screws and 7 wall anchors. I was disappointed to see that I had to screw in the bracket to the board when there were no predrilled holes on this board! I found out very quickly why. You can press the screw partially into the board with your finger. I do not know what is on the inside of the wood looking sticker on the outside but it most definitely isn’t wood. The screws went into the board very easily with minimal pressure. You can definitely do this with a regular handheld screwdriver but I did it with a drill and it was in under 2 seconds. The brackets are very strong and aren’t misshapen and lay flat on the wall. You will find it feels like it could easily hold a good amount of weight safely but depending on the material on the inside of the sticker it feels like it could potentially be sagging from humidity in no time. If you plan on putting these in a humid environment, I would suggest to keep looking but if you are looking for something to use as a display in a dry environment this is definitely worth $20! ... show more
