  • 2 movies in 1
Felt as though I watched 2 movies; The first covering the son and his problems, and then after his were resolved, the second covering his sister, who for the most part was forgotten character. The son's part was OK.

  • There was NO way I was prepared for this film.
I had seen previews of this film when I'd gone to the theater. It looked pretty simple and straight forward. The preview was whimsical and gave away nothing. I sat down to finally watch it thinking, ok it's sports addicted dad pushing his son to be the best. Well...not exactly. That's merely the tip of the iceberg. The thing you get involved in is the sons inner life and all the secrets he's keeping from everyone he knows just about. Being a kid, his coping skills are garbage and well things aren't going the way they should. The film is full of emotion and angst which I WAS NOT READY FOR!!!!! But that's not in a bad way whatsoever. It just smacked me in my face when I thought I was going to watch a nice 'family film about a dad who loves his kids.' The sons issues affects the entire family in profound ways. This film is incredible visually as well as emotionally, and it leaves you with a sense of acceptance by the end. It's a real ride. ... show more
