  • Excellent trolling motor
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
I attached this motor to my 16.5' canoe (85 lbs). This small motor provides ample thrust to propel the canoe quickly through a lake. It is very light and easy to assemble and store. The drawback is that the torque snapped the long steering lever so we have to use the small concealed handle within the motor. I would recommend to the manufacturer to use a metal pole for the steering handle. The company was very responsive when I contacted them. Excellent value. ... show more

  • I love it!
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
I purchased this motor for my kayak, I have shoulder problems and paddling up river has become more difficult for me, the installation part was a little tricky trying to get the bolts on the bottom of the mount through a tiny fishing pole holder opening, but I did it, if you have a storage opening near by it might be easier, but still worked out good, today I put it to the test and it did absolutely great, I was able to leisurely cruise and i nice pace all the way up river. I give it a 8 out of 10 the mount does slip a little when you put the motor on full power unless you tighten it up really good. Either way it saved me a lot of work !! ... show more

  • Nice but you are going to ?
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
After mounting and testing this kit on my kayaks I found that the brackets are not able to hold the thrust that the trolley motor provides so therefore it keeps sliding in the base holder! Useless bracket base holders.. You are going to have to modify the swivel base with maybe rubber in between the clamps or screws to keep the base from moving and keep it in is place to keep the thrust from moving the base. Poor design cannot get it tight enough with the self tightening nuts provided. ... show more

  • Bad bracket design and super cheap prop
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
The kayak bracket is almost a great design, but there is little friction between the horizontal pipe and the mounting bracket as well as in the angle adjustment. I was not able to tighten any of the thumb screws enough to lock the adjustments in place. I set everything up, got out on the water, turned on the motor, and it immediately started to torque up out of the water. On my 18lb motor, low speed was a fight and high speed was nearly impossible as the cheap fiberglass handle was bending and about to break. Rubber inserts or appropriately sized hand knobs would make this a working design. The prop is also paper thin. It was damaged after use in open water. Any minor weeds or debris in the water starts peeling away the leading edge of the prop. If you hit anything remotely solid, it would be shredded, so you probably need to keep a spare at all times. Finally, the steering doesn't lock in place. The height adjustment clamp is supposed to touch the bracket with enough friction to limit movement, but this is not reliable. I wrapped the bracket in silicone tape to make this work a little better. I'm giving one star because it has and will continue to waste a lot of my time to make a poor design work for me. If I were to start over, I would just go with a transom mount bracket. The one positive: It's light, and that's the only reason I'm keeping it. ... show more

  • great Motor, mount needs some reengineering
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
I bought the motor in January. But in Northern Michigan that means I wait until May to consider going on a lake fishing in a boat/Kayak. Thats when I finally mounted the Motor in my fishing Kayak. Drilling holes in my Kayak I am not a fan of but had to mount it. The mounting system, on the surface looks ingenious. Bu the true test was taking it out on the water. First off I realized what others had said about the extension rod for steering. Great concept bad execution. Couldn't get the thing tight enough to not slip. Next the Positive. The little 18LBS thrust has plenty of power. So much is spun the motor backwards out of the water out of my hand. I quickly attempted to turn it off but instead I hit reverse as I was trying to right it and there it went forward. The tube going to the mount is way to smooth and slips without hesitation. Now th eother problem that shocked me was the Mount sandwich also spun so now not only did I have pivoting Motor but an angled under the boat, motor. The sandwich that is supposed to clamp on the edges of the Mount were also to smooth and spun to change the angle of the motor. Both issues need to be addressed. Some kind of texture or teeth need to be added to all points that connect to the shafts. Also I could not tighten down the bolts anymore. The plastic is to soft and the nuts just stripped them out. The additional extended handle also needs a rethink. Same issue can't tighten the nut enough to have it clamp down on the shaft enough to hold and steer. I completely removed that, after stripping out the nut housing. Like I said the Motor is great. The mounting concept is good, the actual plastic and friction points need to be rethought completely. I have made modification to tighten things up and will see how it performs next time I go out fishing. ... show more

  • Motor & seller are great; also love the optional bracket
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
I got the optional Kayak Bracket with the Watersnake 18 Trolling Motor. The products, seller, delivery, etc are all great. The seller, Innovative Procurement, is exceptional as I called them with some questions and delivery was amazingly fast. The motor itself (made by Jarvis in Australia) is great for a kayak as others have stated. I really like the optional bracket (instead of the transom mount) which is what the rest of my review is about. The bracket is innovative and allows easy removal of motor, swing it up/down, and fine tune for optimal position and most efficient power. A couple things to note as of Dec 2020… I got “version 2” of the bracket so"swivel plate" interlocks with the bottom "base" using teeth which I assume helps reduce any unwanted sliding, however, the pictures/videos currently show the older swivel plate so don’t be surprised when you get the newer version. Also, the metal jack beam rod is hard to push into the swivel initially but it loosens over time (that’s how you slide the motor on/off the bracket)....it helps to soap it to remove any sticky grime. ... show more

  • GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
Bought this to put on my kayak very light weight and efficient. The motor did the job I wanted, just trolling upstream in rivers. I lost a couple of bolts in the mount and sent and email to the company to buy replacements bolts. The sent my replacement free of charge since, I have only had the motor 1 month. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE would recommend this company to anyone. ... show more
