  • I use a full size deep cycle marine battery and was able to travel almost 4 miles on a trip and still had great power left over
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Transom Mount
This motor really pushes my Mohawk canoe fast! I use a full size deep cycle marine battery and was able to travel almost 4 miles on a trip and still had great power left over. 2 speeds is nice to use. There is no throttle though. Only 2 speeds and on and off. As well reverse which is very useful. Feather light motor as well. Has to be 3 lbs or something. Ridiculously light. I have used it atleast 3 times. Always wash it well but careful to not spray electronics portion too heavily. No signs of wear or weakness ... show more

  • Better than I had hoped for
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Transom Mount
The Watersnake T18s ASP motor arrived a few weeks ago but due to floods in SC I was forced to wait to try it out. I easily rigged a mount on my Native Ultimate 14.5’ Kayak. and added an Ever start deep cycle marine battery I picked up at Walmart for $76. The battery weighs 46lbs on my bathroom scale. The 1st test run was in the reservoir (so I wouldn’t have to worry about the tidal currents in the rivers) I ran for about 3 hours most of the time full speed. According to the gps on my phone full speed was 3.5 to 4.5 MPH. Low speed was 2.5 to 3.5 MPH this was with an 8 to 10 MPH wind. My second run was lower Ashley at the slack before and after high tide in a wide part of the river current not a real issue again about 3.5 to 4.5 mph average. My third run was 2.5 miles in the upper Ashley River was able to maintain 3 to 4.5 MPH average even against a strong current. The 4th run was in Charleston Harbor and the Atlantic side of Sullivan’s Island to about ¼ mile offshore. Various speeds and stops at beaches/islands for a total of about 5 hours ran just under ¼ of the time on slow speed just relaxing. The Watersnake performed better than I had hoped. It takes seconds to hook up extremely simple to operate and so far seems reliable. With me 250 lbs. and the battery is 46 lbs plus a cooler and fishing gear low speed is a little faster than I can paddle. High speed just a plus, up to 5.5 mph with the right conditions. These Trips were with almost constant running of the motor so I could see what it will do. Not typical while fishing. During all runs except the 1st I have never discharged the battery more than 1/3. The 1st run the battery level was above ½ when done. I still paddle but the Watersnake allows me greater range and I don’t have to worry about struggling paddling home against shifting tides just when the fish start biting. One last note: SC and some other states require you title and register any kayak/canoe with any type of motor. The whole process at least in SC took about 10 minutes and $40. ... show more

  • Stopped working after a few uses, using Lithium ion voids warranty
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Transom Mount
Used for my kayak in saltwater. After only a few uses, motor intermittently worked and did not reach full speed. I estimate just 6 hours on the motor before having issues. Contacted customer service who was responsive. Told that they should be only used with deep cycle standard batteries and using lithium ion voids the warranty. However I believe this is a motor issue and not a battery issue(motor still works but does not reach full speed and sometimes stops). Disappointed with Watersnake quality and durability. I use lithium on Minnkota trolling motors that have lasted years and have not died. Poor quality motor. ... show more

  • Great trolling motor
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Transom Mount
this is a great trolling motor for a canoe, kayak or maybe a small boat, took it out today for first time I have a 15 foot Pelican canoe and it scooted along . now it's only 18# thrust but super light to carry and great in a pond or small lake not sure if enough power in a big lake again only 18 # of thrust but they do have larger trolling motors. appears good quality for the price . ... show more

  • Simple and straight forward.
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Transom Mount
I got this to modify for mounting on the stern of a kayak using a lift line. I cut down the shaft and put the control module in the cockpit. It was all easy to do and works perfectly. It would be very helpful if a different control module were supplied. I had to saw this off of the head and devise a mounting system. ... show more

  • Great light weight motor
I mounted this on my malibu stealth 12 and it is light and powerful. I move at a pace of about 3mph on the high speed and around 2mph on the lower speed. I used a 24 size deep cycle battery and went over 6 miles and didn't even come close to draining my battery. The battery is a bit overkill but it would be good for emergencies. The shipping was very slow! This is the best option for a kayak if you want to stay light weight but still want something saltwater capable. I would get something bigger if you plan on putting it on a good sized canoe. ... show more

  • Works amazing and can’t beat the weight
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Transom Mount
Works amazing, the 18 pound thrust does 2-2.5 mph in low with my setup depending on wind and water conditions. Does 4-5 mph on high. If you do an extended handle like I did, you will need a support like I rigged to hold the extra weight so it doesn’t break the motor head. I have this paired up with a 50ah lithium battery, whole setup with mount and all weighs just 20#’s and will run about 10 trolling on low. ... show more

Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Transom Mount
WHAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT IT IS THAT IT DOESN'T HAVE THE TILT BRACKET LIKE THE T24 DOES. SO YOU CAN GET IT OUT OF THE WATER WHEN YOU'RE NOT USING IT.
