I bought this for a trip to Disney World. It was the perfect size for the days at the park. It has plenty of compartments. Don't be confused and think the whole bag is water proof. The very bottom compartment is the water proof one but it is a good size. I bought the purple and loved the color.

    • Definitely a decent bag
I use draw string bags everywhere i go because they are smaller than backpacks and keep my hands free from holding a purse. My old one was begining to be too worn so I decided to get a new one. This one was appealing because of the compartment for shoes, the multiple zipper pockets, the price, and the size. It works really well and i am happy with the purchase overall. However, i do have two small complaints. The little pouch on the inside top was not completely sewn shut. I did not notice this and some of the items i put in this pouch fell into the lining of the bag. Eventually, they fell out through the side zippers that were not zipped. This is partially my fault for not checking that, but you should be aware this is a possibility when purchasing and to make sure you check that when it arrives. Also, the adjustable straps are nice and handy. But tightening them even just a little causes the excess cord to hang down (which is annoying at times when it gets in the way or catches on things). This bag is better than I expected for a drawstring backpack. It's as roomy as a standard backpack. Lots of storage options. I got this for my middle schooler. They can only carry string bags between classes and have to leave regular backpacks in lockers to go between school and home for homework in multiple classes. I know those string backpacks can dig into shoulders when they get loaded down, so when I saw the flat, adjustable straps/drawstrings on this one, I went with it. It is made as well as a regular backpack vs those flimsy string bags, but it functions the same as a string backpack does. Pull the straps to close the bag, pull the bag open where it is cinched closed. This will likely be the only bag used this year since it is so high quality. Inside, there are two pockets for pens/pencils or other tools. Outside, there is a pencil pouch size zippered pocket like on a lot of standard backpacks, a small side zipper pocket perfect for a phone, and a zippered compartment on the bottom that will be great for holding a sweater or light jacket. The color is true to the photo in the listing. The only somewhat negative is that to close the bag, it takes a good bit of arm strength. I do not recommend it for elementary age kids as they may not be able to close it unassisted. It does seem to get a little easier each time it is opened, but not by a lot. ... show more

    • An one-year bag, very good for light use

This bag lasted me just over one year of moderate use. I used it as a dancer's shoe bag, and an overall day pack. The best feature of this bag is the outside shell. It is very strong, water-resistant, pleasant to touch, and doesn't attract any dirt even though it is black. In a pinch, I could haul really heavy groceries without any worries of shell or straps giving up. Zippers work fine. Drawstrings can twist sometimes and can be messy. The problem is the inner lining that is not tear-resistant. The side security pocket lining tore after 6 months just from carrying a couple of square face towels. Then in just over a year, a half of inner lining of the main compartment suddenly separated near drawstrings. I bought this version of bag primarily for the shoe compartment. That compartment held up very well, but I found it impractical. It shares the area with main compartment so you have to shift your stuff in main compartment to make room for shoes. I quickly stopped using shoe compartment, bought a shoe bag, and used main compartment for my shoes. Also, given the width of this bag around 12" it is hard to fit shoes larger that size 9 through the zipper opening. Given the very affordable price, I could just keep replacing the bag with new every year, but I will look for something slightly wider that can I fit my shoes in more comfortably. ... show more

**1+ year update: still my favorite bag for going to the beach, hiking, walking the dog. Very durable as I use it all the time and it still looks new!** This bag is great! I bought it to use for a beach bag, and figured I could also use it on short hikes (<5 miles). I love it! The pink is super bright like I expected, and the straps are nice and wide which make them much more comfortable than normal drawstring bags that dig in to your shoulders. The straps were easy to shorten, although I’d clip them together across my chest to make it more snug if i were going to carry it for a longer time. It’s water resistant from my test of dripping water on it, but since it’s drawstring at the top I wouldn’t expect it keep my things dry in a downpour. Splashes at the beach or drizzle would be fine though! It holds a lot! I easily filled it with sneakers in the shoe compartment (women’s 8.5), and in the main compartment I put my sand free blanket, beach towel, full 67 oz metal water bottle, and two bottles of sunscreen and it was comfortable to wear on my back and there was plenty of room to add my phone, wallet, iPad mini (or a real book), some snacks, or 2-3 cans of white claws. The zipper pocket inside the main compartment and the vertical hidden zipper pocket were both smaller than I expected, really only useful for phone, wallet, keys, etc, not big enough for an iPad mini. The bag itself is great — holds a lot, has a phone or ID pocket, front pocket, and the bottom wet / shoe compartment I ordered the mint green because the rainbow one was bright in the reviews, the mint…not so much It’s more a pastel color, but not worth bumping down a star rating
