  • Nephew loves them!
These handlebars weren't the ones I intended to order but my nephew ended up loving is "motorcycle handlebars" so it was a happy accident. They Fit well, and look nice.

  • My hardware didn't fit = totally unusable for me :(
This seems like a decently-made handelbar, but it didn't work for me at all for the following reason: apparently it won't fit some mountain bike hardware. I took it to my local REI bikeshop and asked if they could install it during my yearly tune up. They said yes we'll call you in a few days when it's done. A few days later they called me saying my hardware (shifters, brakes, grips) wouldn't fit with this new bar. The length of metal tubing you have on the top, flat part is very little. So if you have a one-speed bike and just need to mount brakes, then it will probably work. The funny thing is that my GF bought a Wald high-rise cruiser bike handlebar on Amazon too (a slightly different model, a little lower rise) and the same bikeshop had no problems installing hers with all her old mountain bike hardware. They showed me how there wasn't enough space to mount everything I needed mounted, and they offered me some options for expensive new brakes and shifters to make it work. I couldn't afford that. So they ordered a cruiser handlebar from their supplier that they *knew* would work and had used before, and then mounted all of my old hardware to that. I had to pay like $10 for the other handlebar, but I saved a ton of money not buying new brakes etc. Now I have this cruiser handlebar and can't return it because the mechanics at REI kind of scuffed it trying to install it. Don't get me wrong -- it's a very high quality piece of equipment and I really, really wanted it to work. It's nice looking and I understand why people give it good reviews -- if it *just works* for you then it's awesome, I imagine. But if none of your hardware will fit, then it's a really frustrating waste of money. For reference I have a 10-year old Specialized Rock Hopper with the standard hardware that came with it. The mechanics and I debated cutting the grips down by a few inches to make everything fit, but it wasn't comfortable and didn't seem safe. ... show more

  • These Bars Are Great
These bars are perfect for what I needed. I swapped out a pair of bars with a 2.5 inch rise for these bars with a 9.5 inch rise. I use my bike on a trainer stand indoors primarily but also ride for pleasure just cruising. My back isn’t getting any younger and neither is my neck and riding like I am joe road racer just isn’t necessary if you know what I mean. I am so pleased to be able to sit up straight and ride my bike without suffering for it later. I think that if you want a cruiser kind of ride with a comfortable position for your back, neck, and shoulders you might want to check these out. They are for sure higher than mountain bike bars, but they aren’t quite to the Schwinn Chopper height. These are like in between Cruiser and Ape Hanger size in my opinion. They were cheap and arrived in perfect shape and I mounted them on a Single Speed Pure Fix Bike. I was able to keep my front brake as well. I did move my front brake from the left side to the right side so it would work. At my age I am more about functionality than looking cool. Worked great for me and had them mounted in about 10 minutes. ... show more

  • Classic Schwinn Look
Ordered a Wald #870 bar, but got Wald #8069 with a 13" rise. The wrong bar shipped is actually a better fit and gives my Schwinn cruiser a classic look. Now I have to get a banana seat to make it complete.

  • Great handlebars!!! I don't know why I didn't do it sooner.
As a woman in her early 60s it's getting harder and harder to ride the bike do the joint disease and back issues. I received this bike handlebars yesterday and put it on this morning. Had a great ride no pain in the back or any of my joints which was a great feeling. I'm so happy I ordered this I have another bike like this I probably will order a second one soon. I would definitely recommend it to anybody that has back or joint issues because it helps you sit up a little more instead of hunched over on the straight bar. I feel it even gives me more control of the bike without fear of falling. Update still a great ride. ... show more

  • Bird-In-Hand
I am on a fixed income and suffer from COPD. So the "laydown" speed and mountian bikes (I have one of each) were nearly impossible to enjoy any logner because of compression of the abdomen. I had thought of purchasing an "upright" rider until I saw the prices. My solution was to convert my older 10 and 15-speed bikes to uprights with hi-rise handle bars. The Wald product was exactly as discribed and worked perfectly. I had to install longer cables and new grips, but the cost for the entire project of BOTH was only 20% of the cost of ONE new bicycle. The shipping from Niagra Cycle was much faster than expected -- order processed and "out the door" the same day. They arrived three days later. The discounted price of two bars plus shipping was the same a local shop wanted to "special order" just one bar. This is the first time I have utilized the internet for bicycle parts. But being an avid cycler, I will do it again. Thank you. ... show more

  • FANTASTIC cruiser bars!
originally ordered a WALD 880.... it was VERY un-natural at the wrists....painful to use..... replaced the 880 with this 870 and could not be happier....the picture really does not show the correct angel...it makes it look almost flat, and it most assuredly is not....VERY comfortable though not quite as high as the 880.... I ordered the WALD High Rise stem to use with this as well and adjusted it to the perfect highth.....as a result of this and a new fancy layback seat post that cost me all of 15.00.....I as a 6'3 man can ride my common size 26 inch tired beach cruiser with no discomfort ......something that prior to this caused me no end of pain due to the smaller than I honestly needed size frame. 20.00 handlebar 15.00 extra long handlebar stem 15.00 extra tall layback seatpost 50.00 saved a 700.00 bike from being useless.....awesome! ... show more
