With the emergence of VR as a great way to get people working out, and even just with the higher impact of some VR games in general, it kind of boggles the mind that so many headsets lack removable foam padding, especially on the rear straps. The Index sadly lacks this feature as well, meaning that while you can buy new face gaskets all day, eventually your rear padding is gonna get pretty gross. For that reason alone, you really probably want this. It'll wick away some sweat and oils before it gets to your rear padding and can be removed and cleaned, prolonging your rather expensive VR kit. It's the same kind of cloth as the cloth face covers, and while it was a little tricky to get on the first time or two you kind of get used to it and it's not a problem. It doesn't really affect the comfort of the head strap (if anything the slightly rougher texture seems to give the rear padding more "grip" on your head), and about the only real downside apart from paying so much for a little bit of cloth and velcro (and we're getting into *real* nitpicking territory here) is that you really kinda have to tug it tight to get it on and it still will wrinkle up in spots, making the strap feel less "uniform." One idea for improvement might be to have some sort of moisture barrier on the inside of it so that it truly protects your rear foam from getting moist and gross, but even as it stands, if you're thinking about it, I'd say just go for it, especially if you find yourself sweating a lot when you play. ... show more

I have a Valve Index and went looking for accessories. Idea being I wanted to capitalize on everything that would make my experience a great one. After reading reviews I got this. After attaching (not the easiest exercise) the cover and putting on the gear, I was amazed at the feeling! Very comfortable and made it much easier to wear the headset. I would also highly recommend the face gasket cover by this company. The combo of the two is a MUST HAVE and will really enhance your VR experience. ... show more

Strap covers the back of the headset well but it's a huge rip-off for 18$. You can get almost the same thing by attaching a piece of cloth to the headset.

    • Bad Instructions, starts to rip when putting on
Don't bother using the paper instructions, they are a confusing mess. Just use the pictures from the amazon store page instead. Further, as I started putting the cover on as shown, it began ripping when the velcro strips were trying to meet each other. As others have noted, this is merely a piece of fabric and it will NOT stop sweat from getting through to the actual padding of the index. It slows it down but has no real "stopping power" against sweat even though it claims it will "keep your headset fresh and dry" and that "it absorbs the sweat from your face quickly and your headset will feel clean even in the most active VR workouts.". It doesn't. Unless you have the moisture content of a mummy from ancient Egypt, this won't do as it promises. On a positive note, it feels rather comfortable although does get bunched up easily. You can remove it and wash it without needing to remove the index's top head strap which is a bonus. Verdict: I won't refund something I made a sweaty mess, but I definitely won't be looking for this company's products as my first choice again either. ... show more
