  • This Works Excellently
Color: Dark Grey & Black + XL Spacer
SYNOPSIS My review focuses primarily on the ventilated faceguard attachment included in this kit. I live in the hot and humid American South, and the ambient moisture means that my Quest 2 headset is even more prone to fogging than usual. The faceguard alone is an absolute must-buy if your headset lenses tend to fog up. WITH PROPER SEATING* of the headset, the ventilated spacer has eradicated fogging entirely -- even with vigorous fitness sessions, my lenses stay crystal clear for over an hour. *PROPER SEATING: the headset should not closely hug your face. The straps on the headset should be loose enough for the headset to be easily removed without loosening the straps. One reason lenses are prone to fogging is lack of airflow, and forming too tight a seal between your face and the faceguard will inevitably lead to fogging -- even with the ventilated faceguard. But when I wear my headset appropriately, this ventilated faceguard entirely eliminates fogging of the lenses. DETAILED Difficulty Level - How Hard Was This To Use? [_] Beginner [_] Novice [x] Competent [_] Advanced [_] Expert You will need to feel comfortable pushing the plastic pieces into the Quest headset, with firm enough pressure to secure attachment but without so much force that you risk damaging either the headset or the attachment. The adhesive comfort pads require careful alignment with the faceguard to properly attach, and a mistake would be expensive. You should have steady hands and/or patience when attaching the comfort pad. And the comfort pad is an immense improvement over the silicone padding currently shipped with the Quest 2. Build Quality [_] This felt very poorly designed, and I recommend against buying it. [_] This felt poorly designed, but "your mileage may vary." [_] This felt like it was adequately designed, with no big pros or cons. [_] This felt like it was well designed, with more pros than alternatives. [x] This felt like it was excellently designed, and I recommend buying it. The Quest 2 factory faceguard is very poorly designed. This ventilated replacement is an obvious design improvement with no clear drawbacks. Build Materials [_] This felt like it was made of different materials than promised, and I warn against it. [_] This felt like it was made of very cheap materials, and I would not recommend it. [_] This felt like it was made of the promised materials, with no big pros or cons. [x] This felt like it was made of higher quality materials, with more pros than alternatives. [_] This felt like it was made of premium materials, and I recommend buying it. Every item in this kit feels above-average in quality. Nothing feels truly "premium," but for the price I wouldn't expect it. Build Safety [_] This felt very unsafe to use, and I recommend against buying it. [_] This felt a little unsafe to use, but "your mileage may vary." [_] This felt safe enough to use, but nothing to write home about. [_] This felt safe to use, with better performance than alternatives. [x] This felt very safe to use, and I recommend buying it The ventilated faceguard may quite literally improve the safety of using the Quest 2 headset. It certainly feels AS safe as the manufacturer's component which this replaces. Functionality [_] This did not do what it promised, and I recommend against buying it. [_] This did what it promised, but very badly. [_] This did what it promised, but it was "just fine." [_] This did what it promised, and did it better than alternatives. [x] This did what it promised, with distinction, and I recommend buying it. My rating here is provisional -- I have not tried alternatives, so I cannot compare them to alternatives. However, this has delivered a great value for the price approximately one month in. ... show more

  • Stops glasses being fogged
Color: Dark Grey & Black + XL Spacer
I wear glasses and my IPD setting on the Quest is a 3. The stock interface with silicone, I would have to “wedge” my face/glasses in there and carefully remove the headset as it would firmly pull off my glasses every single time. If playing any sort of movement involved game, you get hot over time and sweaty. I would have to pull the elastic stock headband forward and blow cool air up to get the fog on my glasses to clear, but even then, would come back right away unless I took a 30 minute break (who wants to do that?!?) This VR Cover interface takes care of that problem. I can play rounds of Thrill of The Fight, be drenched in sweat, but have clear glasses!! This does nothing to cool your face, so don’t expect that, but it will keep you fog-free. No issues with sweat getting into the interface. I used the minimal foam and it no longer holds a death grip on my face/glasses. Can pull the headset off without it taking off my glasses. Other thing that is very helpful if you have a round face like me, the side wings of the plastic is soft, so kind of molds to your face. My only con is the very slight amount of light that does come in through the vents at certain head movements. It’s so minimal and only if you turn your head at such a slight angle that the no fog tradeoff is absolutely worth it. I have zero issues with my face shape with light bleed by my nose. I barely tilt my Quest down when it’s on and I get no light through there. I took the removable nose piece off because of this, and it does NOT work with glasses. At least with thick frames, it rides up the glass itself unless you snake a finger in there and work it under the bottom the glasses. If I didn’t wear glasses, I would say the nose piece was comfortable and probably be preferred. But if you are reading this and wear glasses, just take it off and throw in the box. I used the XL spacer with minimal foam and my glasses do not touch the VR lenses. I did not try with the stock Meta spacer. It connected so firmly with the XL spacer and the headset, that I do not want to pull apart and not get as good a connection. No rattle. I do think my eyes are closer and Field of View is clearer than before. The standard foam was just too thick and caused the interface to grab my glasses. I was expected a cheap pleather material, but this is some smooth material that is extremely soft to touch. The minimal foam still has creases when it’s on there, but I have not noticed anything on my face after longer play sessions. Overall, this is THE facial interface to buy. I also bought another on Amazon that came with a Lycra and mesh pads that were curved padding. The pictures for that one looked nice, but when it was delivered it just looked and felt cheap. If you wear glasses, this one works perfect and gives you a little more room in the interface. You will still sweat like crazy for some games, but your glasses remain clear. Buy this one, don’t bother with the other cheap stuff. ... show more
