  • This pencil is shockingly capable.
Color: White
I have recently learned that having an Apple Pencil and a 2 year old…is a dangerous combination. I have always been ultra-focused on keeping track of my Apple Pencil. I am not an artist but I do work in the creative field. I don’t use my pencil everyday. But that days that I do, it is an essential part of my workflow. I am a video producer and use my 12.9 inch iPad Pro while I am conducting interviews. During the interviews I use the Apple Pencil to take notes, mark off questions, and jot down anything that is important. I went to prepare for work the other day and my pencil was GONE. I searched the house. 4 times. Eventually I gave up. Out of panic, I ordered another Apple Pencil. They are NOT cheap. I have always struggled with how much they cost considering how little I use it (compared to visual artists). After placing the order, I remembered an article I read on The Verge about 3rd party Apple Pencil alternatives. I figured I had nothing to lose, thanks to Amazon’s easy return policy. When this pencil arrived, I was shocked at how much it looked like the original one. It looks and feels almost the same, except it is a little bit lighter. It magnetically attaches to the side of my iPad and charges just like the Apple one. Writing on the screen is just as fast and smooth. I see absolutely no difference in performance. When I am highlighting notes and I turn this pencil sideways, it widens the breadth of where it is highlighting just like a real highlighter. I have always thought this was a cool feature of the Apple Pencil and this product is no different. My iPad battery widget shows the charge level just like the real one. The only feature lacking is pressure sensitivity. This pencil can’t tell how hard you are pressing down on it. But I find this to be 0% a problem for me at all. The pressure sensor is mainly used by visual artists who are drawing or painting with it. Someone who just takes notes has no need for the pressure feature. I honestly didn’t even know that was a feature until I lost mine and started looking at alternatives. There is one thing that slightly irks me about this product (and it is not a big deal at all). You have to wake it up when you first remove it from the iPad. I have found that this takes less than one second. When I remove it, I let go and allow it to snap back onto the magnets briefly. Then the light comes on and I pick it up again and use it. It has only been a few days and I am already used to doing this I don’t feel like it slows me down at all. If I know I am going to be taking a bunch of notes, I just leave it off the magnets until I’m done. There is one major advantage compared to the Apple branded pencil. Because this one needs to be woken up, the battery is preserved when it is not attached to the iPad. The Apple version tends to die in my backpack if I don’t have it attached to the side of the magnets. The “always on” nature of it means that it is always using a little juice even as it jostles around in my backpack. But this pencil, does not lose any charge unless you are writing with it. It can bounce around my backpack for days and not loose even a single % of charge. Unless you are very into drawing on your iPad, this is a no brainer. It is $100 USD cheaper and does almost everything the Apple version costs. I have since found my missing Apple pencil but I still use this one as my primary. Because it costs so much less, I don’t live in fear every day that I am going to lose it. If I do, it is not the end of the world. If you’re considering getting this, give it a try. You’ll love it. ... show more

Overall this product is well made. It works like it says it will and it gets the job done. I use it to take notes for my college courses and it definitely makes it easier to do so.

  • Good Apple Pencell Alternative
Color: Black
Been using mine daily for about 4 months and it has worked quite well. I am not an artist, so the lack of pressure sensitivity is not a big deal. I was a bit concerned that the paint may not hold up well, but my black version looks basically brand new—charges perfectly even through my iPad's case. The only minor tweak I could ask for is that it does not always turn on by itself when you take it off of side of the iPad. You will sometimes have to use the botton on the top to turn it on instead. ... show more

  • Great pencil but disconnects often
Color: White
Having used this iPad pencil, I find it to be a solid addition to my collection. Overall, it performs well, but there's a minor inconvenience with it turning off a bit sooner than expected. Despite this, once activated, the pencil operates seamlessly, and I haven't faced any notable issues. It truly shines when it comes to writing tasks, offering a consistent and effective experience. Unfortunately, I recently lost it, but based on my positive experience, I plan on ordering a new one soon. The sleek design and ease of use, along with its reliable performance, make it a valuable asset for anyone in need of a dependable writing tool for their iPad. ... show more

  • A great alternative.
Color: Black
Honestly, I just bought this because it was black, but it’s been great for me so far. I also love that you can manually turn it on and off, and that it’s magnetic and charges as an Apple Pencil would. I bought a second one because I like the first one I bought so much. It works so well, I might sideline my Apple Pencils. ... show more

  • Glides like a pen
Color: White
Recently purchased a new iPad to be able to make my design ideas into a reality. Instantly decided to purchase this pen especially because it’s so much more affordable. Once I received it and began to use it, I don’t think I’ll ever use anything else on the iPad. The accuracy of this pen and its detail is remarkable. There is no lagging, easily chargeable just put against magnetic part of iPad and you’re set. Very compact and easily to use. So happy I purchased this product instead of the original brand. ... show more

  • Nearly perfect, still not as good as Apple Pencil for drawing on iPad (Procreate app)
Color: Red
Overall this is a really good budget option. I lost my Apple Pencil and needed something in the interim since I draw for work. BUT, for some reason Procreate (drawing application on iPad) won't pick up the pencil's pressure, so all lines are the same size with no taper. Also, for shading it doesn't pick up the tilt or pressure so it just shades a single consistent layer. I'll likely buy an Apple Pencil again and use this as a backup but overall it works as described. ... show more
