  • 2nd time ordering this product.
Size: 2 Pack Color: Buffered 5KG
This was 2nd time ordering product for me. First time I mostly mixed it with other soil and then planted. I also used it straight for 5 amaryllis bulbs I got as a gift from a friend. THAT was a rush plant job. And it was perfect! I got the bulbs planted, watered, placed in shade - and walked away. You should see them now. GORGEOUS! This was the perfect soil medium. ... show more

This coco coir is fine and good quality. I love that it’s already buffered. It was easy to hydrate.

  • Great price, quality product.
Size: 1 Pack Color: Buffered 5KG
I use this Viagrow VCCB5B Calcium Coco Coir Compressed Premium Plant Growing Media with an equal mixture of peat moss and a few handfuls of perlite to get my seeds of to a good start. The worms love it as worm bedding mixed with shredded cardboard too. I always buy this brand and see no reason to go with anyone else. ... show more

  • Big block, works well
Size: 1 Pack Color: Buffered 5KG
This coco coir works well as a potting mix amendment. Only problem is spitting the big block if you only want to use some of it and not all. I had to use a drill to try and break it up. It would be alot easier if it came split up in day 6 sections. Good value for money.

  • My Positive & Negative Opinions
Size: 2 Blocks Color: 5KG Block
I’ve used this brand of coconut coir in brick form like these & in a 1.5 cu feet bag (hydrated & fluffed). While I like the texture & convenience of the bag, I like the price of these bricks. It’s not hard to rehydrate. Simply sometimes I don’t want to add water, wait & soak, use something to separate the dry from the wet & repeat. The positive which I’ve found is that after reconstituting I mix with a medium grade potting soil or garden soil. For the purpose of this review I’d like to focus on mixing with potting soil. My mix contains the med grade potting soil or potting mix. There is a difference. I often add some worm castings or chicken manure, maybe a bit of compost and depending on what I’ll be doing I may add in some organic slow release fertilizer (think Osmacote). This mix is rich, fluffy, it’ll hold extra water & wont cause caking of soil. Your soil won’t be hard as a rock whereas water runs down the side of the container. — It’s so easy to work with. Additionally, from my understanding coconut coir breaks down into the soil in approx 3 years. One other positive for me. I grow inside & under lights in the winter. I also start my spring plants in January & early February. I used to get a lot of fungus gnats even though I used fans & tried not to over water. —- When I started using coconut coir exclusively I no longer had nasty fungus gnats. Overall I give double thumbs up to Viagrow coconut coir in this brick form. I would ask though that the price would be lowered a bit. THIS particular 2-pack is priced well for me but I’ve seen the same stuff going for at least double what I paid. (& the bagged & fluffed stuff is great, just too expensive for me) ... show more

  • Excellent Planting Medium
Size: 2 Blocks Color: 5KG Block
Drop one of these in a heavy trash bag and run the hose on it for a while. A few hours later you have a nice brown fluffy medium for planting. Add some perlite and you have a really good mix. I use this because ALL of the planting/potting soil sold in my area is ground pine bark which sucks all of the nutrients away from the plants. I'll never use pine bark sourced soil again. ... show more

  • Bad outweighs the good for me
Size: 1 Block Color: 5KG Block
I have used several different brands of compressed coir and this is one I will not be buying again. It is very compressed. So much so that it takes twice as long to hydrate and then there are many firm lumps to break up. I didn't have a scale handy, but I compared the block to another brand I have and feel like, as other reviews have mentioned, this block was not 5 kilos. It definitely made less once expanded. The storage tub that I usually fill with one hydrated coir block was only 2/3 full. Part of that may be down to lumps that didn't get fluffed up. There are a couple of good qualities. One is the lack of any stinky smell, which some coir can have. Two, the coir is very clean without a lot of unchopped fiber. ... show more

  • This stuff is great.
Size: 1 Pack Color: Buffered 5KG
The media could not be loaded. This block weighed almost exactly 11 lbs, consistency was great, light and fluffy, absorbed water just fine. I got this stuff to help me root Fig cuttings and it works great.
