    • Excellent frag for the money - Versace's take on Oud

Versace's take on Oud is a bit more floral (neroli + saffron) and less anamalic and "dirty" as some more standard oud frags can be. And in this case it really works. Versace does an excellent job of making solid fragrances and selling them at price points that put the scents within the reach of enthusiasts who don't always have the budget for designer fragrances - or especially not 100mL bottles of them. The silage and projection on this are excellent and it has decent longevity. And it has the distinction of being one of the only my frags of recent that had a stranger comment and compliment on it while I was out. The scent isn't easily found in the US market where I am and I've never seen it in a store here. And so its more of a regional frag for Versace which is a bit of a shame because I would much rather have this on my shelves than Dylan Blue or even Eros. It's mature and engaging and I haven't really smelled anything that smells quite like it and so it kind of stands out against all the more popular frags I notice people wearing. I'm definitely going to be buying another bottle as a back up once I get through a bit more but I think any frag enthusiast would be happy to have this on their shelves especially at the price point you can find it at on Amazon and other resellers ($55-65usd). The only thing I would say is that it might not be for everyone and could be a bit polarizing depending on the company and so I wouldn't recommend this as a gift and only would blind buy if you have some familiarity with Oud scents in general. I have a Tom Ford oud wood tester my wife got me with a bunch of other cologne testers, I really liked the Tom Ford oud wood it smells amazing but it's really expensive so I did some research and came across this beautiful gem, and honestly I like it more than the Tom Ford it's not even close in my opinion. The top note when you first smell it is a little bit peppery but after a few seconds to a minute or so the dry down comes in with the smooth woody and oud scents and smells almost identical to Tom Ford oud wood, after a minute or so there is this sexy alluring addictive smell at the base notes that I can't describe that smells amazing, Tom Ford oud does not have this, Versace oud noir is deeper, more complex, smoother and sexier than Tom Ford oud wood. Needles to say I'm extremely happy with this cologne this will definitely be my go to woody oud scent. If you like Tom Ford oud wood and your looking for a alternative you won't regret this Versace oud noir. ... show more

Reading some of the other reviews I do not think people understand there is a difference in the percentage of fragrance in cologne (3-5%), eau de toilette (5-15%), eau de parfum (15-20%), Parfums (15-30%), or Ouds and Musks (extracts, meaning 20-40% which is why they are stronger, last longer, and more expensive). Product Review: Great scent. When first applied the scent is strong (normal for Ouds), but 5-10 mins later it dissipates and becomes normal and lasts approx 4-5 hours, after which there is a slight scent where if someone hugged you they would be able to still smell it (very close-quarters situations). As for value-for-price comparison, I think the product is slightly overpriced approx $15 and should be at the $80 target. Again, I do think it's an amazing Oud scent, so I do not have buyer's remorse. 1 review star was subtracted for pricing, ONLY. Oud and Musk blended are very well known to be an amazing blend of scents but do not bathe in them (1-3 sprays are all you need). I purchased a Chocolate Musk Oil by Crown Perfumes (first time using a chocolate scent) to blend with Versace Oud and it smells freaking outstanding! This cologne is an extremely nice, very niche men’s fragrance. It is classy, dark, and quite similar to Tom Ford’s oud wood. It is strong at first but a bit subtle on the dry down so spray a lot. smells really good.

I heard good reviews on this cologne and how it smells similar to Tom Ford Oud Wood. Well I can say it’s an elegant smell more like a night use. As I sprayed it smells like D&G the one parfum and settles down to smelling like Oud wood. I spray twice and within 30min on my wrist the smell was very light. It did smell like Oud wood but longevity is weak and the projection was not great. Expected more projection and longevity. ... show more
