The scoop holds the food in place (doesn't drop off over the sides) very well and (with both my medium and small sized food bits) measures out very close to the 2 cup capacity indicated. I had a one cup plastic measuring cup, which wasn't big enough to do one scoop in a BIG bag of kibble for three cats a few times a day. When the handle broke on this kitchen measuring cup, that was it. THIS scoop is the perfect size for kibble for multiple cats, is MUCH sturdier plastic and fits in the big bag of kibble well.
