First, very easy to install. Second, it's the same quality as GM valve cover I replaced. Last, morning start ups no smoke and seems to burn a lot less oil. 2009 Chevy Silverado 5.3 with 160K ( hoping to get 160K more.) Note the PCV tube from the valve cover has metal ring.     • More people should know this part solves discharge of oil at startup!!!
I tried several things to prevent oil loss and discharge at startup. This item was reasonably priced and solved the problem.

    • Don’t overpay
Most of GM’s replacement parts are made in anywhere but the US nowadays so don’t overpay for something that has a very simple function. Came with a gasket and RTV, so installation was easy. Quality seems to be ok as well, it’s not plastic so the durability is increased because of that.

    • Good updated valve cover
Worked out good but they gave me a passenger side valve cover gasket with the new driver side valve cover, not sure what was going on with that but the new valve cover had better casting then the oem ac delco valve cover that I took off so I am happy with the purchase. UPDATE: The new valve cover has been on my avalanche ltz for about two months now and it has been working good with zero leaks, it also fixed the notorious gm oil burning problem in my truck. ... show more

    • Do this before valve seals!!!
My 03 silverado started smoking on startup a while back. As someone who’s always worked in cars I thought it was the valve seals. Instead of just changing the seals I bought a new set of heads and spent a weekend replacing them on my truck. But as soon as I was done and fired up the truck it was smoking even worse. I did some more research and found that the valve cover is a big weak spot on these trucks. So I figured I’d give it a shot before I lit my truck on fire and man it solved the smoking issue almost immediately. If your vortec engine is smoking try replacing this before you do anything else! ... show more
