After reading the reviews, I took some some mental notes on things that people didn't like and figured I would take my chances. First was assembly time; complaint: took at least 2 hours. I finished with 48 minutes, 40 seconds (yes I used a stopwatch) the instructions said it would take 30 minutes. I am very good at assembling boxed furniture so I think 1 hour would be a better estimate. Second, screws for the chair; complaint: screws are too short. I discovered that they are too short, but that is only if you put part "L" on upside down (and I did this on one of the chairs, oops! It took my maybe 2 minutes to fix that). Piece "L" has a side that is flush that should be against the seat of the chair and the side that the screw goes in on allows for the screw to be flush with the bottom making it just long enough. The materials seem very sturdy (but I will update if I find otherwise) one of my chair seats has a little bit of the finish missing in a corner, but it isn't enough that I'm willing to get a replacement (see pictures). Most importantly: Lego brand legos fit on the lego table top! I know that other reviews said this but it was the first thing I checked because I was paranoid it wouldn't. All in all, I'm very happy with the purchase and my son is going to flip his sh** when he sees this after school today! ... show more

Listen up. The Lego side fits : STANDARD LEGOS, JUNIOR LEGOS, and DUPLO. It does not work with Mega Blocks or the knock off lego brands you are buying your kids.

This table and chair set was purchased for my 4year old grand child. It took my husband two hours to assemble it and my grandson half that time to break one of the drawers. The table is somewhat sturdy (except for the drawers), but the chairs...The screws used to hold the chair together were not long enough and soon worked their way out of their holes. When this happened my grandson was able to take the chairs apart, and I mean seat completely off. My husband purchased longer screws to repair the chairs and that appears to be working for now. Both drawers now are a total loss, unrepairable. The drawers are made of material cloth/plastic and two small wooden pieces slide in the slots to suspend the drawers. Not sturdy at all. I am trying to get a customer service phone number because of the issues we are having with the table. It came with the main table frame damaged and one of the chairs was not predrilled properly so we cannot put the chair together correctly. I also need a replacement piece for a leg that was damaged. I messaged and never got a response. If someone knows a direct way to contact company please share. Otherwise, it looks great and is a great edition to our new found love of legos! ... show more

    • Needs a more durable finish

I love how it looks like a real piece of furniture, only child size. I bought the set as a gift for my 3 year old granddaughter. I like the heaviness of the furniture and hope that it will last until granddaughter number two is old enough to play with it. My only concern is that the removable part of the table has begun to have the corners chipping off. I don’t know if it is a bad paint job or the construction of this part of the table. All the other parts look good as new ( after only one month it should look great). It’s a great little set and would receive all 5 stars but I am concerned that it’s great appearance will not last if it continues to chip off after only a month with a 3 year old. ( I am sure that at this point the top has not been flipped at all to reveal the LEGO side but has remained on one side) ... show more

UPDATE: I have to knock this down another star. Reason being is after a few months, four of the screws holding the chair seats to the frames fell out. These are long, sharp screws that have no business being near children, and one of my kids nearly stepped on one. This is because the screws don't sufficiently drive into the seats, so with enough jostling (you know, what kids do), they actually pull out. These should have been designed with insert nuts and machine screws or bolts. Please be careful. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'll admit it, this table and chairs set looks appealing. Classic design, solid wood, handy storage, reversible table top with integrated Lego-compatible foundation, what's not to like? Turns out, quite a lot. I've assembled a lot of furniture in my lifetime, and I can honestly say this took far longer than it should have because the instructions, while not bad quality, fail numerous times to point out important things that absolutely need to be considered during assembly. Some other reviews have mentioned inappropriate parts, but I will say this was not the case for me - all of the correct parts needed for a sturdy assembly were included. The only problem is the amount of finicky assembly required (which is ridiculous for what it is) and poor instructions make it highly likely to make errors. It still took around the advised 30 minutes, but it was a frustrating half hour. It was packaged well, but there were still some significant paint chips upon delivery. Fortunately there was nothing in highly noticeable areas, and no split wood or other structural problems. As for the finished construction, the material is generally good. However, there are some interesting choices in the use of lesser quality wood (drawers and chair braces) where a lot of stress is likely to occur. I am not surprised by other reviews that mention easy breakage. In terms of functionality, the pieces feel solid and sturdy (drawers aside). The chairs are well proportioned, and easy to move around as needed. Corners are adequately rounded to avoid major injury, but it's still a weighty wooden set. The table top finish is also good, and has so far been very easy to clean. But there is a huge issue that I'm surprised nobody mentions: leg clearance. With the fabric drawers, there is less than two (2) inches of room for legs when the chairs are pushed in. Not even kids have these sorts of proportions, which seems a ridiculous oversight by the manufacturer. And despite being fabric, the drawers are not soft or pliable due to the inserts, so you can't really squeeze in with them. Despite adding some taller felt pads on the legs, my daughter gets worked up every time she tries to push herself in, and the only solution is to open the drawers and sit on the adjacent sides. We could take the drawers out permanently, but this isn't a simple maneuver (as one will experience during assembly) and defeats some of the intended functionality. I really wanted to like this table and chairs set. We will begrudgingly keep it as it does have some good qualities, but they are not redeeming, and my suggestion for anyone on the fence about buying it would be to keep looking. ... show more
