So I have about 10x of the 50mm base and my god these little guys are awesome!!! I can't get enough of em haha. They're so well machined, they're nice and sturdy super durable and they really are a great value at only 10$ a piece. By far they accept the most styles of Arca plates I've seen (my Desmond and Neewer only fit certain arca plates while these fit all my plates). The ONLY thing I don't like is that the handle is not solid, it's wrapped in a semi thick and durable little round ribbed piece of rubber that slips on, versus being a solid piece of milled metal. This just makes it near impossible to tighten the plate extremely tight (for really high weight loads) however the tension you CAN get is MORE THAN SUFFICIENT to hold up any rig under 15lbs. You could obviously tighten it way more with pliers but still, it would've been nice to see an all metal knurled or grippable handle/knob. But these things are so durable and awesome they are just the best arca deal I've seen on Amazon for the quality vs price. Highly recommend these (if you need something for much heavier setups then I'd recommend the Kessler Kwik Release or the Smallrig Arca quick release as these little 50mm arca plates are pretty heavy duty but they won't take a lotttttttt of weight so bear that in mind. Yes they will take a 1DXII with a 70-200. Will they take a 1DXII with a 500mm 2.8? Definitely not haha. At least I wouldn't trust it. Will they hold up a monitor, wired/wireless audio kit, EVF? Yes it will definitely those up with their respective battery included. But they're so inexpensive that I would recommend getting several and putting them on smaller items like travel monopods, smaller tripods, ballheads, sides of cages, articulating arms etc. Buy like five of these and I'm sure you'll be able to find a use for em! They even come with a nice long 1/4-20 hex screw to drive it into a 1/4-20 female thread. This can be removed to reveal a 1/4-20 to 3/8-16" adapter!!!! So much bang for the buck. You also get THREE bubble levels! For photographers this might not matter but for us video guys this DEFINITELY helps! You have two horizontal levels and one vertical or 'portrait' level built into the handle. I love these little 50mm receivers. Besides the handle, I wouldddd be nice to have the bubble level viewable on top like a little circular one that is on the handle, move that top the top of the place receiver so that way you can look straight down at the receiver when trying to level the tripod with just the legs (sometimes I don't use a ball head tripod head and instead use a flat base Video head that can only be adjusted via the legs.) But that nitpicky. These things are awesome, nuff said. Get em. ... show more

I used this to adapt our SLIK 700DX pan head to accept Arca Swiss plates. The 700DX utilizes a unique round tripod adapter that in and of itself is a very sound design; however, the unique circular adapters are better than $16 a pop and are not the most inobtrusive thing to have hanging on the bottom of a camera. Also, by adapting the SLIK to accept the universally standard Arca Swiss dovetail plates, I can permanently install an Arca Swiss plate on all my cameras and thus they be compatible with almost any tripod I may encounter. I attached this clamp-plate on top of one of the SLIK round adapters and it worked as if purpose-made for the application. There is one flaw in the design of the Utebit 50mm Quick Release; that being, the width of the clamping shoe protrudes a wee bit below the bottom of the base; thus, necessitating the addition of a thin spacer between the clamp base and mounting surface; otherwise, the clamping shoe will bind against the mounting surface. An alternative, but not so easily accomplished fix would be to grind a bit from the bottom edge of the clamping shoe. The base should have been made to protrude a bit lower than the clamping shoe and no spacer would have been necessary. This same fault in design is present in all of the many look-alikes available here and elsewhere. The thoughtful design of the center mounting hole allows for two alternatives in mounting. The countersunk center hole is threaded standard 1/4 x 20. The upper shank of the provided stainless center screw is thinner than the threaded portion for a distance equal to the depth of the threaded center hole; thus, orientation of the clamp base and mounting surface are not dependent on the two opposing threads matching up. The supplied hex-socket stainless center screw is of flat-head countersunk design; the necessary Allen wrench comes in the box. The clamp base measures 1-31/32" long, 2" wide with plate clamped, and 5/8" tall. The shank of the tightening knob is 7/16" (between the inside of the knob and the clamping shoe). Overall length of the knob is 1-1/8". Outside diameter of the metal portion of the knob is 13/16". Overall outside diameter of the knob, including the knurled rubber grip is 1" The knob is far enough away from the base and of sufficient diameter to allow for operating with gloves on. With a thin spacer as already described, this clamp base, as is, will attach to almost any tripod adapter out there and work as an Arca Swiss conversion adapter; just attach the tripod adapter to the clamp base the same as if it were a camera. Other than the need for a spacer, as already described, this item is very well made, plenty strong, and of clever design. The dovetail mating surfaces are a perfect fit. Would be five stars but for a 'heads-up' reason, otherwise excellent. I bought two of these a couple of months apart. They're both sturdy, well-machined and I think a good value for the money. However, because the screw (over which the clamping knob is threaded) is either too short or screwed down too far, the second one I got opens about 1.5mm less than the first one (see red arrow in photo). That's just enough to pose serious issues in getting the matching dovetail plate in and out of the clamp. Rather than return it and risk getting another one with the same -- or worse -- issue, I decided to fix it myself. The screw in question is phenomenally tight and I was unable to budge it before the head started taking damage. Plus, I had to destroy the embedded spirit level simply to access the screw head (no biggie since I don't use that level). So, I ended up filing off the edges of both sides of the clamp just enough so the plate will now properly fit. Once again - Nice little clamp and the other one has no issues*, but there's obviously some variability in manufacturing and / or QC. I guess that's not surprising for the price, but given CNC I would expect more consistency. * Well, one of the 'capsule' shaped spirit levels on the base fell out at some point, but once again I don't use them. ... show more

This QR system works nicely attaching my telephoto lenses that have an Arca Swiss foot on the collar. So it seems to match the standard well & the machining, finish & quality seem fine. I also bought the separate additional 2-plate pack which matched perfectly with this set.
