Description

The IOGEAR USB 2. 0 4-Port Boost LINQ Ethernet combines a USB extender and a USB hub to allow connecting as many as four USB 2. 0 (and/or USB 1. 1) devices from up to 164 feet away from your computer. Connected devices still maintain a high-speed data transfer rate of up to 480Mbps, while operating from a more convenient location. The USB 2. 0 4-Port Boost LINQ Ethernet converts a USB 2. 0 or USB 1. 1 connection to RJ-45, and sends the USB data over common Cat5, Cat5e or Cat 6 Ethernet cable up to a distance of 164 feet (50 meters). The USB 2. 0 4-Port Boost LINQ Ethernet is considered an active repeater, using a small power supply to amplify the USB signal and preserve the integrity of the data over long distances. The power supply also helps maintain enough current to power any connected USB devices such as webcams, hard drives, etc. The USB 2. 0 4-Port Boost LINQ Ethernet kit includes a local unit, a remote unit and a power supply. The local unit connects directly to your computer while the remote unit connects with up to four USB devices. The local and remote units are connected to each other with Cat5, Cat5e, or Cat6 Ethernet cabling (not included) up to a maximum length of 164 feet (50 meters). The GUCE64 is simple to set up and requires no additional drivers to install. Designed with classrooms, labs, offices and conference rooms

  • Really good, but some caveats
I love this product, it's quick to install and brain dead simple to use, however, there's a trick to it that i haven't cracked yet. Most of the devices i've tried work great with this usb hub. I'm using this hub to extend the usb from my office gameing computer to my living room where I have a wireless hdmi extender connected for video, this way i can game and watch movies in my living room without needing a video game console. Anyway, for the usb hub, i'm using pre-ran cat5e that's installed in my house, i'm guessing it's probably 80 feet total from computer to hub. So far my steam controller and usb mouse and keyboard, and logitech HD webcam work great. However, whenever I plug in my mini bluetooth adapter so I can voice chat while playing games, it causes all kinds of lag on the other usb devices(they stop responding, then start responding, and somewhat randomly), and windows eventually stops recognizing everything. I might chalk that up to a poorly made cheap bluetooth adapter, but the adapter works just fine when plugged in directly to the computer, so maybe the extended usb hub is more sensitive to interference? Not sure. Also, I have an old logitech harmony one remote control that I tried to update while connected to the hub; windows recognized the device, and logitech attempts to update it, however, about half way through the update it just disconnects and stops responding to the pc. Like the bluetooh adapter, this isn't the case when plugged directly into the PC. Maybe it's a power issue, maybe it's interference, maybe it's the hub, I'm not sure. I'm giving this a four out of five because it's works really really well for what I need to use it for the most, but your mileage may vary and hopefully it works with the devices you have. ... show more

  • Works for my Virtual Reality headset.
Using this to extend USB 2.0 35 feet with Cat6 cable. It's doing the job fantastic, and adding very minimal lag. I wanted to avoid chaining multiple USB 2.0 cable extenders, because each extender acts a "hub" and can add lag. This let's you add one extender, which is also a 4 port hub. I'm using it to extend the USB for my HTC Vive (a Virtual Reality HMD) and it's working perfectly. No lag, and the built in video camera works. Edit: After 2 years, unit has stopped working. The I've tried multiple known good ethernet cables, swapped out the USB cable on the local end, etc. Both devices show red for power, but the link light never lights up and consequently, no USB devices can be attached. The unit showed signs of failure before this, with USB devices suddenly appearing and disappearing. It worked well, when it worked. ... show more

  • Works great to connect my 3D Printer in another room
I'm using this to reach my 3D printer which is a short distance away on the other side of a wall, but requires about 25 feet of cable going through the attic. After running the Ethernet cable and hooking up the USB devices, it works great. I have a 720p webcam and my 3D printer both connected to the remote end of this extender, and the other end going to my Ubuntu 18.04 desktop and it works like a charm! ... show more

  • Good when works, don't expect long life span.
Purchased July 2016, Died April 2017. At least I think it's dead, it stopped working about a week ago, worked randomly last night, now appears dead again. Tried different computers, USB and Network cables with no luck. When it worked, it worked great - but I can only assume that the product quality (they are very light and plastic) are not designed for long term use and frequent changing of devices. I liked it enough, I'm going to buy another one, this time with extended protection. I recommend the same. ... show more

  • Very pleased
These works great. I've had these in service for about a week now, and they are truly plug and play. They are extending a set of my PC peripherals to my living room using 100ft of Cat6 UTP. I now have my full PC desktop available in my living room using HDMI extenders for couch gaming (with Steam controller), browsing, streaming, etc. with full peripheral support from the comfort of my couch. I have had no issues using a keyboard and mouse, steam controller, charger, and mini usb out of the end unit. TL;DNR: worked properly as soon as I plugged them in and are perfect for my ~100ft needs. ... show more

  • worked good when it worked
I bought this to use with my HTC vive vr headset because the room that my computer is in does not have enough room to play vr. Worked great to extend my usb cable 100 ft to another room but as other reviews have mentioned after 6 months it started acting up/ working intermittently/ having connection problems. After replacing the Ethernet cable I was using ( it was bought new at the same time as this extender) it started to work again. well here we are about 10 months after purchase and it finally died, pc says "usb device not recognized" the "remote" unit has all three lights lit up, the "local" unit has all but the green "device" light on, if I shake it around the green light on both will flash so I suspect a cracked solder joint somewhere. Long story short I think i am going to cut my losses and shell out the $300 for a fiber optic USB 3.0 cable instead of buying a new one of these every year. ... show more

  • Reliable - Works - Stable
I'm running this over a ~75ft run of Cat6. So far, I have had zero issues in the past 6 months of use.

Great idea. I find they need to be power cycled more than I’d like.
