    • Aten 221A DOES work for Mac and PC!
I first bought a $40 USB peripheral switch from Staples, as it advertised that it worked with both PC and MAC. 2 frustrated hours later (tech support, etc.) it became apparent it did not -and back to Staples I went. The manager said, "oh yea, these come back all the time - they really don't work with both PC and MAC". GROAN. So then I did some research and the ATEN 221A appeared well reviewed, was 1/2 the price of Staples' peripheral switch (!), and also comes with a USB / device cable, e.g. no need for that additional expense as you'll need at least one extra cable when you add this small switch to your peripheral device. With the Staples switch, it was $40 plus the cable and of course as noted, it didn't work as advertised. I couldn't believe it - loaded up the Aten 221A and it immediately worked manually, e.g. back and forth between the PC and MAC, as long as we pushed the little button on top of the switch. The next morning I phoned into ATEN's tech support line and somebody immediately picked up. It turns out there was one simple software command to "check" on both computers, and VOILA!, now automatically, we can print from either printer, just by hitting "print" on either computer. The software / switch is reading what's coming in and prints in sequence, perfectly. I am thrilled with this small purchase, which will help us out so much, along with its ease of installation, tech support, and that what it promises - it delivers! ... show more

    • Great for Sharing Air Card between Two Computers
This is a great, premium switch for easily switching a usb port between two devices. I use it to share an AT&T Momentum Aircard between two computers where it is not easy to get to the usb ports. The box makes an audio sounds, but you can turn it off. There is a slight delay when switching between two Windows 7 computers. That is not the fault of the switch, but an issue with how Windows handles "hot" usb ports. The delay is maybe 2-3 seconds - not really long at all - and I don't think that there is a way to fix it anyway. ... show more

I use this product to switch my preferred mechanical keyboard and gaming mouse between my personal PC and my work laptop. It works great for that, and has made my life easier but the package comes with only 1 USB 2.0 B->A cable so you can only connect it to 1 computer as it is. 95% of people will use a keyboard and mouse to switch between 2 computers yet the gadget only comes with 1 input USB port. You need to use an additional USB hub. Basically you cannot use this product for it's intended purpose out of the box - at all. I would have preferred a package that included all the cables and an additional USB type A port (for peripherals) at a slightly higher price. ... show more
