Description

Unpacking is a game about the familiar experience of pulling possessions out of boxes and fitting them into a new home. Part block-fitting puzzle, part home decoration, you are invited to create a satisfying living space while learning clues about the life you’re unpacking. Over the course of eight house moves, you are given a chance to experience a sense of intimacy with a character you never see and a story you’re never told.

I loved playing this game it was amazing. I didn’t know how much I would like organizing. The first levels you play you can’t move certain items around but the further you get in the game the more control you start to have. Keep in mind you’re still limited on what you can do. I was sad to see how short this game is though. After you finish the little unpacking diary that’s it there’s no new ones to do. So I’d Recommend taking your time as you go through. And it has a nice little story within it ... show more

    • Enjoyable and relaxing
An incredibly relaxing experience. Simple and easy to pick up and put down. There is something nostalgic about this game as well. Unpacking this person’s room through the years took me back as I moved a few times growing up and based on this game’s timeline, I’m only a few years older than this person (late-30s to early-40s). So I see a lot of parallels to my experience growing up on top of a very stress free game. I let my kids play worry free and it’s even prompted them to organize their real life rooms a little better. This is a very peaceful "zen" style game where you unpack boxes and put the items away where you'd like (though there are some exceptions as to where you can put things, it's logical). There is an odd satisfaction to the sound and action of taking things from boxes. Nothing is rushed or judged. As you play, a story is unwound about a life. You can't help but make the story up in your head as you are unpacking, it's sort of a subconcious act. We play as a family, each taking turns unpacking and placing things. I really enjoyed playing this game, it was so cute and nostalgic! Very short tho, so it's not really worth the high price. Nevertheless, I am a collector so if there's a physical edition of a game I need to have it (+ I loved the little booklet that came with it) But why, WHY OH WHY, would you put the name on the spine of the game cover in the top instead of in the middle like all the other Nintendo Switch games. Love this game so far on my switch! It's a great game to unwind too and just have fun with organizing! My favorite part is how it's gamer based and has little easter eggs to other pop culture games!
