I received the canopy fast and was excited to use this because I love the concept of tent like construction and ease of setup and it seems as thou it would handle the wind better than the metal canopies. I did a trial setup before going on a beach vacation and trusting that every thing would be in good condition and I am glad I did. The canopy came well packaged and was easy to unpack. Once it was all laid out I started to assemble the poles which was straight forward they are like all fiberglass tent poles with the elastic cord in the middle, when I got to the last big pole simply stretching the cord from picking it up caused the shock cord inside to break in the middle rendering it unusable. The cords are very small for such a long pole. I believe this could be an excellent canopy if the shock cords where at least twice as thick as they are, and also the big poles seem to be made of an inferior fiberglass that doesn't seem to be of the same quality as most tents I've assembled. I truly wish the manufacturer would use higher quality parts because I would love to have this style canopy. My opinion is to buy a different canopy until this ones quality improves. ... show more

My daughter and I are camping the state parks of Texas this year. We wanted something to cover our eating area as well as place to get out of the occasional popup Texas rain showers. This canopy is BIG! We practiced putting it up before we took it the first time. It is similar to our tents so as far as understanding how it sets up is super easy. It is heavy, so it is a little harder for the two of us to work with but we can do it. It takes about 15-20 mins for us to put it up and take it down. Fold up is easy and it fits nicely back into its carry bag. You certainly need two people to put it up and more would be great if you have them. I'm sure putting something like this up at the beach or on a windy day would be a pain, but take a breath and have some patience, because it is worth it and stake it down. ... show more

When I set this up for the first time the shock cord on one of the poles tore. The company honored its warranty and sent a new pole. However, I'm skeptical if one broke so quickly, the reliability of the others. One other questionable area of quality is I could see daylight through some seams, I have not tested this for rain worthiness yet. So as the headline says, "We'll see." ... show more

I put 4 stars because it would be nice to be able to purchase extra doors coverings. I am 68 years old woman and I was able to put it up in my back yard by myself. The instructions are terrible but I figured it out. I bought this because I hate those heavy duty canopies it takes 2 or more people to get them up and taking them down is horrible. I was out camping and saw someone with this type of canopy and it did fine in 35 mph winds. I was shocked it was still there. It came with a small pin hole. I don't think I will bother to send it back. ... show more

Nice value. This looks like the Coleman Screen Dome (which is unavailable anywhere), minus the screens. Setup by one person is difficult, but possible. The 2 sun/wind panels included are nice and easy to clip in. The nylon fabric is a bit sensitive (I poked a small hole with one of the poles when trying to set it up), but the overall quality seemed good. Very large and spacious, but i have not tried it at the beach in full wind. The poles are thick, but also seem to be under a lot of tension. The whole thing packs into a compact carry bag, but the thing is heavy! Most of the weight is in the poles. Updated 7/4/2021: I finally got to try this tent on a windy day on the beach, and (with some extra sand stakes and support lines) it went pretty well. The only problem I had was when we were taking the tent down in the wind, and I think one of the poles bound up and splintered in half (see photo). Not sure where to get replacement poles for this. I'm still giving it 4 stars for now since it seemed to stand up to the wind pretty well. For the beach I would recommend getting specialty sand stakes that are at least 12 inches long. ... show more

We have tried all kinds of shelters. Pop up canopies can’t withstand wind, the metal poles break like twigs, and other shelters just aren’t roomy enough. We used a CLAM for years, but it just wasn’t comfortable to allow two people and two dogs inside. I bought this shelter and was skeptical because of the low price. I even toted it around for a month in my Jeep before setting it up, because I thought it would be a pain and a disappointment. Boy was I wrong. If you have any concept of how a dome tent sets up, this sets up almost as easy. I didn’t even need any instructions. There is room underneath for all our gear as well as two chairs and two dog beds. Amazing! As far as it being waterproof? Not so much. We found it leaked in certain areas during a relatively hard rain, and there were drips here and there as it was drying out. As long as you use a tarp for the floor and cover items you don’t want to get wet, you’re ok. As for wind, use the guy lines like you should and this thing won’t budge. I’d recommend removing the inner panels during heavy wind. I’d like to know if you can buy extra panels; it would be nice if it came with 3 so you could use it as more of a privacy shelter if you wanted to. It seems to be put together well. I’ll Scotch Guard it and I will be using it on the road for a year, so we shall see how it stands up. ... show more

Set up the canopy and it appears very well built. I like that it comes with sides, but the stakes, like all tents are a bit flimsy and need to be upgraded. I think the geodesic design will do well in the wind too. It is easy to fold and is much much more compact than our pop-up canopy. Cannot wait for camping season to really try it out. ... show more
