I was a little worried that this wouldn't work for my set up. I have two different brands of door openers (One is Genie and the other Wayne Dalton) and I was apprehensive that I would be able to make both of them work on one remote. After a couple of tries, I was successful, instructions were clear for the Genie but not the Wayne Dalton. I followed the instructions for the Genie for the Wayne Dalton opener, only change is the number of clicks to program and it worked beautifully on both remotes. This was my third purchase of a pad to open our garage door for our nephew when he comes to cut the grass or for us when we take the dogs for a walk, etc. after our original one finally died. The other two said they were compatible with our old Genie opener but we could not get them to work and neither could the customer service reps for either unit. Pretty much gave up but gave it one more try and this one paired up right away, has been working like a champ for months and was even less expensive than the other two. I used this keypad to replace a very old Genie keypad. I have been using it for a couple of months now and it works great. Easier to use then the old keypad and connected right up to my old Genie garage door opener. Would recommend for anyone needing a new keypad.

    • Works with really old DIP switch AND modern ones!!

I bought this skeptical as none of the other openers I ordered worked as intended. Nearly all were modern and worked well, but I have 3 garage doors, 2 of them with modern style openers (2005 and newer) and one that is old like from the 1970s but still works. The old one is a DIP switch style and I had trouble even finding any info about it on the internet. The goal was to have one remote that can open all 3 of my doors, so I needed the flexibility of both modern (learn code) types and DIP switch and this one seemed to fit the bill. While I didn't have initial success, I grabbed every bit of info I could read off the old DIP switch opener to be able to find it on the internet, but it ended up being a Linear company system despite the fact it said on the side it was a Genie. So in the end this remote worked awesome once I knew which system I had and then programmed it per the instructions to match a Linear system it worked like a charm! I am so glad I can now open all 3 of my garage doors with only 1 remote!! ... show more

Okay, this is replacing a 20+ yr old original GD Opener that's finally started to give out. Looks exactly the same and eventually, I did get it to sync with my GDO. However, there was no indication in the instructions what the default PIN was - I had to guess and eventually landed on 1111. *Note this if you buy one. And whenever I attempted to change the PIN, it would un-sync from the GDO and no longer work even though I got the correct lights, both on the keypad and on the GDO. I eventually gave up and went back to the defualt pin so now everyone knows the PIN to my GDO.... This is why I marked off 1 star overall and 2 stars for the Ease of Install. If the manufacturer can give me corrected instructions, I would be grateful. ... show more
