We have a fireplace insert, but as carful as one can be, some sparks can pop out onto a hearth rug. For too long my husband has been buying nice ,but poly pro rugs, which while often beautiful, melt if any thing hot pops out . I finally decided we needed a more durable rug. So I choose a half round with a very nice design made of 100% wool. It's really the best way to go for a beautiful rug that will last. Yes, more expensive, But seldom needs to be replaced. One note though, usually these rugs are 'tufted' which makes for a thicker rug, and there will be some sheading over time, but well worth it. ... show more
