  • Perfect for VR setup
Color: Black
We purchased two of these. First one was for my son's VR setup in the living room. We wanted a computer stand that can move around, sit or stand. We needed a shelf on the back to hold the PC itself. Took a lot of looking, but this one is perfect and has worked fine months later. Second one is for me to keep in my own space near my writing table. I can roll it around so that I can play Minecraft while streaming. Other times I watch YouTube videos while working on my journal. Again, it was important to have the shelf on the back to hold the PC so the entire unit rolls around. This is the only sit/stand desk that met all of our requirements. Assembly was fairly easy. I put both of these together (62yo woman -- mechanically inclined) using my own tools. Highly recommend assembling on a raised surface. I used my queen-sized bed for one and the dining room table for the other, careful to protect surfaces. Follow the directions exactly, being careful to ID the parts. Materials: This is laminated MDF I believe. I had no shipping damage, so it is in good condition. If I ever have damage, I plan to replace boards with a high-quality plywood since the bones of this desk are metal. I typically buy solid wood furniture (very difficult to find these days), but in this case, the price justifies the materials. All 4 wheels lock and are very smooth; they seem to be made from a soft rubber so they don't scratch our laminate floors. ... show more

  • 4 stars, but for my purposes I’d say 5
Ok, let me begin with the fact that I knew what I was getting into before I bought it. My expectations were already tempered. That being said, the build quality is lacking which is why it’s 4 stars. For my uses however, it’s 5 stars. Going into buying this item - based on the design, I knew it wasn’t going to be super sturdy, and it’d wobble some. That is true. It does wobble a little. However, while working on it it doesn’t wobble a ton so it is sturdy enough -just have something with some weight to it in the bottom. Second - I expected the finish to not be real thick, and I was right. However, the melamine finished pieces were shipped together without padding in between, and they clearly slid around, and THERE WERE NO SCRATCHES. Impressive. So temper expectations going into the purchase and you will probably be happy. Cons - welds are just small spots/tack welding for most joints, about the diameter of a pencil eraser. Second, the paint was chipping off in places. Also, the edging melamine was chunked, and where it met the top had some filled in areas that didn’t look great. The wheels are good on hardwood, and only so so on carpet but it isn’t like I have a ton of weight in it. Using the height adjustment knobs is meh. Additionally, it was covered in dust that you could see when unpacking. Lastly, the directions are atrocious. Positives - it is very easy to use, and sturdy enough. Don’t press on it - write/type on it, and you will be fine. If you don’t look closely, it looks nice. The ridge to keep a laptop/keyboard on is a nice feature. It also tilts well. The melamine finish seems tough as it came with no scratches and I am interested to see how it holds up over time, but I think it’ll do fine. While I know it looks like I am unhappy with the product, I actually quite like it. The pieces fit all together really well (I tightened everything at the very end and did the last 2 steps at the same time - put the shelf in WHEN putting the connection piece between the two legs) and it makes a nice workspace. I’d easily recommend this over an Ikea piece of furniture any day and will use it frequently. ... show more

  • Pros (and cons)
Color: Black
Purchased this b/c I had a similar one-pole mobile desk which lasted several years, but its veneer was lifting/peeling, wheels constantly locking, and screws holding pedestal were loosening up. Figured I'd buy a sturdier model. I've had this for a few months. This one showed promise and had mostly good reviews. I liked the fact I could adjust the keyboard and mouse panels for better writing comfort, and storage shelves above and below (for monitor/and hard drive). Wheels looked sturdy as well. That's where the good ideas ended--this unit needs improvements in its design, however. CONS: -- many reviewers commented on the instructions being minimal, and they are, on a single, hard-to-read page (pictures are small--when installing and lining up panels, pay CLOSE attention to the curved edges of panels not easily discernable in pics); -- some comments mentioned that the front panels are about a half-inch off after installation--that's b/c the instructions state to turn these panels upside down when installing the front panel stop-edge underneath (ultimately to be used for holding pens/pencils). All one has to do is lift the panels equally alongside while upside down screwing in this edging; -- yet another unit that requires an Allen wrench (supplied, but I have hundreds of these things already!!). These are made for those with small hands, and hard and slippery to manipulate. Can't we just have countersunk screws?? -- speaking of edging for the front shelf, ALL shelves on this unit should have a stopper edge, IMHO. The unit shelving is so glossy that items easily slip off on slight movements. While the mouse shelf ideally adjusts down where one locks it for comfort, one has to consistently hold onto the mouse for fear it will fall off its panel to the floor (thankfully, I don't have a wireless mouse that would fall to the floor, but a wired mouse tied into the computer USB port itself). I took off the edging of my prior mobile unit and screwed them in here, pre-drilled of course; -- there also should be a "basket" storage/ease of access to paper clips, pens, or such--perhaps screwed under the topmost shelf?? Indeed, one of the better ideas of this unit was the metal bridge between the legs--I placed a 4"-5" shelf here (not included, which also doesn't interfere with legroom underneath); -- these wheels are the worst---they do not transition as well from hard flooring to rugs. I needed free-turning wheels, but these ALWAYS locked up. When rolling the desk in this scenario, from floor to rug, the wheels automatically locked and-- b/c of lack of edging stops, and its super glossy surfaces--all items immediately fell to the floor. I got so tired of the poor wheels, I applied electric taping on some wheels to stop their "auto click-stop"--which has worked thus far; PROS: -- glossy shelving, even though poor per above design flaws, still is easily cleaned, and doesn't appear it would ever peel after continuous use; -- sturdy construction, doesn't wobble, screws stay in place; -- lots of shelving, that don't interfere with legroom; -- adjustable shelves, securely lock in place (except stuff rolls off easily); -- compact, a lot of utility in a small space, that doesn't interfere with other furniture nearby (i.e., almost the same "footprint" as my prior single-pole mobile unit, an inch or two wider/taller); This should be a great sale, if only the above suggestions were applied--I had to make my own improvements (not costly, but still)... Hope this helps. ... show more
