Let me start by saying I like this resin so much I’ve enquired about larger sizes. HOWEVER!!! No where on the product information, nor on the label is there any information regarding the MAXIMUM amount of resin you can mix. I had a number of items to make today, so I mixed 6oz.....3 oz resin, 3 oz hardener. I mixed for 4 minutes, allowed to sit for 5 minutes, and after pouring one small mold, the exothermic reaction of the remaining resin mixture MELTED THE CUP AND SOLIDIFIED THE RESIN IN THE CUP. I could FEEL the heat coming off of the cup. I have pictures, which I will try to find a way to attach to this review ... show more

    • Thoughts of a beginner resin user
I have done several pieces of resin "art" over the past year. During that time, I had been exclusively using another, very popular brand, and had never strayed. Finances have been tight lately, but I wanted to continue my art. Because this is a relatively expensive medium to use, I chose this over "brand A" for my latest purchase, and here are my thoughts. 1) It is equally easy to mix, though it does have a stronger, more off-putting scent that I like to keep away from my face. 2) It also mixes very well (with colors, glitter, etc). 3) It is ever-so-slightly thinner consistency, which I think makes it easier to work with in terms of pouring. 4) It is sooo much less prone to the bubbles that form when mixing. 5) In my experience, the bubbles that do occur, are much more difficult to pop. "Brand A" bubbles dissapate pretty well with a simple hot-breath-and-straw technique. What few bubbles do form with this product are much more stubborn. I know most people have a torch that solves this problem. (That is next on my shopping list.) 6) This sets up faster, and harder, if that's possible/makes sense. I did a couple castings, and this looked fantastic in surpisingly little time. Like I said, I am relatively inexperienced in the resin world, so other, more experienced users will surely have their own critiques. I find this product a welcome change from another I had tried. If the product you're currently using hasn't left a *heart-shaped* impression, you may want to try this. Or, maybe if you're just looking for something new (and slightly more cost-effective). ... show more

I've never worked with resin before and this was a lovely introduction. I used it to finish a computer table I made and it's very shiny and hard. Took a longer than the instructions said to completely harden but who cares about that! It's a little pricey but I would certainly purchase again.

    • ruined my piece
Bought this because it was more resin for less money than a couple other brands, it originally got 2 stars because it was easy to use and apply and is also non toxic and food grade safe, however it ruined my piece. It's my first time using resin, and I didn't think I needed to seal my piece before applying the resin....my colors bled and even though i applied in thin layers with a brush, it created thick runny streaks and dimples. After 24 hrs, I was able to get a lot of it off with significant chemicals in hopes to repaint it, but the thicker streaks were too cured. I suppose it's possible my measurements were off creating the problem, and I might be able to salvage it if I can get some sandpaper, but by the time I can get my hands on some, the resin will be fully cured and my project will probably end up in the trash. Edit: Tried again on a second piece, first few days everything seemed ok. By the end of the week, colors bled and actually changed colors. Not sure this product is compatible with all mediums. Will not use it again. Downgraded to 1 star. As a side note, this company does not have desirable customer service. They get defensive when a negative review is written and blame the user for the poor outcome. They don't have a website and the product didn't come with any information regarding use (besides the mixing instructions on the label), FAQs, or any guidance as to what could have gone wrong if your outcome was poor. So you, the user, is left hanging, trying to guess what the problem is/was. I do want to say however, after contacting them directly after the second piece I made got ruined, they did refund my money. ... show more

I love this resin. A bit on the expensive side. I guess I should have read it more carefully. You get an 8 ounce bottle of resin and 8 ounce bottle of hardener. I thought I was going to get 16 ounces of each. Oh well.. it’s a great product. Long working time. Very few bubbles. A little pricey, but worth it! ... show more

I cannot give a product review as I have not used thr Unicorn Resin, yet. I can say that I am encouraged by two things. The absolute crystal clear, water-like quality aspect is quite encouraging. The price is competitive with Art Resin and even a bit better. Intend to used this resin for a top coat on my acrylic paintings and as the primary element in resin painting. My opinion of the company is greatly influenced by the fast fast FAST fulfillment and shipping of my order! ... show more
