I used these to make a scrabble tule project with my family’s names. A few things I didn’t expect were the edges to be finished which they were, the tiles to be so smooth and not need sanding, all uniform in color prior to staining, and to be free of defects. They were a little thinner than I imagined when I bought them, but they are still sturdy enough and all basically flat and not warped despite being pretty thin. I used a minwax stain and then a stencil to paint the letters in acrylic craft paint. Then I finished them all off with minwax polycrylic. The wood took the stain and sealant all well. I definitely will use these again for other craft projects. I think based on how smooth they are if I had used vinyl decals, that would have worked also (I was originally worried if it was “grainy” that vinyl wouldn’t stick so I opted for stencils). I thought buying these precut vs going to the hardware store and having my husband cut a big board would cost me more but I was in a time crunch. But honestly the quality of these and how smooth they were and all the same size was well worth the money and time saved. ... show more

For the most part these wood tiles were great and I'm very satisfied with my purchase! They came packaged well and none had any damage. They also stained really well and didn't bleed hardly at all while stenciling (although I believe the stenciling bleeding that did occur was more user error from too much paint on the brush). The only flaw I noticed was a couple did bow slightly after painting/staining but it was minimal and didn't effect my scrabble project at all! All in all im happy with my purchase and the results and I would definitely buy again! ... show more

The wood tiles are a perfect size for a scrabble wall. I ordered these a few months ago and just now was able to get to my project and they were perfect ! I have a few left over I am going to do pour painting for coasters. They say unfinished squares but they are quite smooth for being unfinished

I love these squares! I bought wooden squares somewhere else to make Scrabble blocks for my son for Christmas. They were awful! These are smooth and required no prep on my part before using and turned out perfect and for a much better price. Am so much happier with these!

    • Great wooden tiles

When these first arrived, I checked each tile to make sure these actually had smooth edges and they did. Currently still finishing my family name scrabble project but when using our wood burner, these are coming out great looking. The wood doesn't burn too fast which has been great because I'm still learning how to use the wood burner. After inspecting all of the tiles, I found none that have any wood sticking out or anything like that. They're not too thick but they're also not too thin that they just break easily. I have stained a few of these and the stain soaks into the wood and looks amazing. I've even painted 2 of them and whether it's stained or painted, these tiles look great. I did use picture hangers on the back of these and unfortunately the nails that came with it are too long but I did use construction glue to stick them on and that seems to be working great.     • Stencils are to big for boards

I bought these to make the classic family name crossword. This board is 4x4 as stated, is light weight and not flimsy but very thin (not something you can stick a nail through without splitting). However, know that if you purchase the stencils WITH the board, the bundle deal, the stencils are way too big for the wood. The number gets cut off and you have to put the numbers on separately. I also would like to share that in my experience with using this product it doesn't take stencil very well of you plan on using anything other than a marker, pen or pencil. Paint seems to continue to find its way underneath and bleeds through creating a not crisp letter. The wood is very absorbent so that could also be the issue. I ended up buying letter decals instead and modge podgeing them on. Worked and looked so much better for what I needed it for. ... show more

These were perfect size for doing family scrabble wall letters! They stained really easy (one coat) and dried rather quickly! I love that they’re light weight so hanging them with some wall putty is easy and no nails or hanging hardware needed. It comes with 100 pieces so it’s plenty for whatever crafts you have in mind. I am in a few craft groups and I saw someone used pieces of 4x4" wood to create a wall decor piece. They used everyone in the familys name to apper like scrabble. I loved it so much I bought these wood squares to try it myself. I am going to use my cutting machine to cut all the letters out and then adhere them to the wood. I haven't had enough time to sit down and design the letters yet but I have played around qith the wood pieces and they are perfect size. I didnt want anything to heavy or bulky, these wood tiles are exactly what I needed. The wood is smooth and easy to decorate. The possibilities are endless with these.
