    • Really soft and flexible; size offers plenty of uses.

The mat is really soft and flexible. It's sent folded into a 10.5x14.25 inch ziplock bag. The raised edge or lip is also soft but the ribbing holds it upright well enough. Unzipping the bag, there was a pronounced chemical/silicone smell. Airing it out for 2 days eliminated almost all the odor though fold lines were/are still visible. I'm not using this under the sink. In 60 years, our only under sink leak was from a garbage disposal that rusted through. This is going on my workbench to catch debris and loose pieces. I frequently grind down or solder things, both of which leave a mess. Or, small pieces wonder off when I disassemble things. This will hold everything where I can readily find them, plus simplify cleanup. As suggested by the Vendor, these mats have value in the mud room or as a feeding/water bowl mat for pets. I occasionally board a couple of dogs for friends, and they do leave a mess. These will also work well to protect a surface when doing repairs or cleaning, by holding tools, cleaning agents, and parts. The mats do need a firm surface such as a floor, bench or table. Love that this medium weight rubber like tray will help keep my sink cupboard from becoming wet from spills and eventually warped. This tray is generously sized with a nice decorative pattern on the bottom. Easy to wipe up and I love that it has a lip to keep any liquid from spilling over!

Visually, my included pictures tell the story. Have you ever been in an older house and looked under the sink? Have you ever seen the "floor" of the under sink are rotted out...perhaps even with a hole in it? This is what happens when you have even the smallest leak under there. You will ever know it is even wet because of how dark it is and how much kitchen and cleaning stuff it packed in there. This product cheaply and effectively provides you with an insurance policy against that kind of damage! You won't know you needed this until you do! When it came packed in a relatively small box I thought, Oh...it has to be folded and is going to have permanent creases. And it does have minor creases, as seen in the pictures, but once installed, they are not noticeable. The protective pad is lightweight but more than sturdy enough for its purpose. It has raised sides of about a half inch so, if you have a small leak, you will definitely notice it before it gets to the point of overflowing. Genius product. I did not use this item for it's intended use. Instead, I use it to contain paint when I do acrylic pours. Because it is silicone, when the paint dries it just peels right off the mat for easy clean up. It is also flexible and easily folded for storage. I don't have to worry about paint dripping off or having to scrape it off the table. And it's large enough for me to work on two or more canvases at once. The sides are just over half an inch high, so not a huge volume for holding liquid. For intended use, it would definitely work perfectly to protect under a sink for a slow leak or occasional drip, and of course any spilled/dropped cleaning or other supplies, but it would not protect against a large or ongoing leak. ... show more
