I needed something lightweight and easy to store, as I'm incredibly limited on space. This stool easily folds up and can be slid away out of sight. It is secure and supports my weight no problem. I love this little step stool. It's so sturdy that I don't feel unsafe to use it to grab things I can't reach in the kitchen and you just need one hand to pick it up and close it. This stool did not lock very well and could collapse when you stand on it. I modified to make it work so mine is ok now. I wouldn't buy one online go the the store and try one out and make sure it locks and will support you when you stand one it. This one was not the one you want
