  • zinsco replacement breaker
The breaker is well built not brittle like the Zinsco originals, it is somewhat hard to get the wires in the terminals due to all that plastic around the wire entry, I was using 4 gauge wire, the biggest it will take and I did get it. The lugs are a little hard to get started if you back them all the way out but overall a good breaker, a little too pricey though but I needed it. ... show more

  • Saved My Zinsco Panel
Completely satisfied with this product--quality is equal/better than the original and it fit perfectly. TWO important hints: 1)PLEASE--if possible, turn off the power to the panel. If you have to work on the panel "HOT" (energized), you better know what you're doing or be comfortable facing DEATH. 2) the old, original Zinsco breakers fail because the clips that attach them to the panel bus bars lose their tension over time, causing arcing at the clips, which causes them to arc even more, etc., etc. When you remove the old breaker, visually inspect the bus bars where the breaker clips connected--if it has been arcing, the bus bars will be pitted at that point, and if you install the new breaker at the same position, it's just a matter of time before the problem returns. If you have spare spaces on the panel, put the new breaker in one of the spare positions. Also, the panel bus bars are aluminum, as are the breaker clips, and oxidation is a natural problem with aluminum...I put a dab of electrical anti-oxidation grease on my new breaker clips before I installed mine. Again, know what you're doing, and be careful--I've worked industrial electrical for nearly 50 years, and I've seen one young electrician die because his attention lapsed for a second or so, and he forgot which wires were turned off and which ones were still "HOT"...THINK SAFETY! ... show more

  • Not cheap.....but better than replacing the panel.
Needed a slim breaker for an air compressor outlet. Worked out well. If you are still resisting replacing your zinsco panel, like me, you should consider inspecting the buss bars and upgrading if there are signs of arcing.
