I just love the size of this. I’m so glad I went with this to another similar set, because the canvas an easel were a bit smaller. This is just about the size of a standard photo...As an artist the paint and brushes with are kind of stupid..the quality isn’t there and they’d be annoying to use because of there size. The paint is fine for beginners or mixing with a better quality paint. The brushes don’t stay in shape well ans the bristles come out a bit. I was completely aware of that when I bought and was excepting quality for those items. I just bought this because I love the look of it for decor. If you are not good at creating artwork you could just glue a photo or image to the canvas. This would be a fun gift - thinking about getting some for friends. ... show more

We threw a Bob Ross night for a friend's birthday and we all decided this was the best set to get ourselves for the occasion. It's a very nice set. I do painting of my own as well (residential painting, but that's beside the point) and I quite liked how easy it was to put the easel together (if you know how it's supposed to look when it's done anyway, I had to help a couple people) and the paint quality it comes with is good, if you're a beginner. The only thing I'll say is that if you're also doing a Bob Ross night, pick up a few more colors and some paper plates for mixing cus that dude goes absolutely nuts and this set had a bit of trouble keeping up. ... show more

Overall it is nice starter set but the easel if very flimsy, we used it a few times and the easel kept falling over and finally it just snapped apart mid painting. Overall the brushes and other materials are a good value, so I did not really mind. Canvases are great for an eight year old but the surface of the canvas is really rough and not great for more professional fine detail. Brushes are average at best but one of the best selections for starting out that I found to learn different strokes and techniques. The overall value probably exceeds the price but if you really have a serious art interest you might be better off buying a more expensive set. ... show more

I ordered 2 kits as an Anniversary gift for my husband and I. When I opened it I realized that the chain in one of the kits had rusted and disintegrated. This made using the easel very difficult. It is a good beginner kit but, I'd be hesitant to gift it as it came with faulty parts...
