We've been using Turbotax for tax return for years. There was one year we used another brand, because it was close to tax return due date and we couldn't find Turbotax at the local store we used to buy from but they sold the other brand instead. After using that brand, we prefer Turbotax instead because it's so simple to use and since we found it sold in Amazon we have bought it digitally from Amazon instead from local stores. ... show more

I buy the desktop version because I can do my taxes and help other family members for the same price. I wasn’t aware that I had to pay to actually file state until I tried to file. I guess I can’t be mad as it is listed on the page, but I didn’t see it at the time of purchase. I have alway used TurboTax because they make it so easy. I am no longer convinced I am getting the best bang for my buck since I have to pay to file state. I stick with TurboTax because I figured to switch to something else would be more hassle than it is worth, but I may shop around for other options next year… ... show more

    • 2 Years in a Row not able to get download on to my Laptop
2 hours on the phone with Amazon.com to get the file to download. Download would not load on my laptop. They connnected me to TurboTax.com and I waited 2.5 hours on hold with no response. I called TurboTax.com support back and spent 7.5 hours s on the phone with TurboTax customer support asking for a supervisor (3) different times & never once getting transferred to one at all. I have used TurboTax every year since 1993. However, two years in a row I am unable to get the Amazon.com TurboTax 2022 Deluxe to load on my laptop (I7 tenth generation Intel processor, with 16 MG RAM, 1 Terrabyte HD with 500 Gigabytes available, RTX 260 graphics processor). Never have any problem downloading and installing any other software, only TurboTax 2021 & now 2022. Amazon.com will not simply send a replace program disc/CD, will not credit the purchase today so I can simply order CD version & get deliverered from the same sale. Amazon requires we cancel the order, & I had to reorder the CD version delivered for $7.50 more and wait for Amazon.com to post my credit. I am a huge fan of both Amazon.com & TurboTax for decades. However, this partnership in my case and others has not worked well at all! TurboTax you can not offer a version that simply downloads onto a hard drive under a user designated subdirectory and get me to a supvisor support level for a (20) year loyal customer (TurboTax & Quicken since 1987)? ComeOn, Man! Amazon you really could not credit my purchase and send me a CD without tying up my money for (3) business days and charging me $7.50 more for the same product after spending 2 hours with you support person on the phone and now having to wait for your delivery? ComeOn, ComeOnMan! Not good boys & girls as you are making me think HARD about other options! This is not good at all for our relationships. No means that I need to consider other options. Lack of satisfying my inability to do my taxes means I am not being served. Not being servered becomes a personal issue for me as I feel unwanted. Feeling unwanted makes me move on as I never stay were I am unwanted! Are you sure you want this result to my ordering from both of you? I know I don't at all! ... show more

We have been using Turbo Tax Deluxe for years to do our federal and state income taxes. The program is fairly easy to use. WHAT I DO NOT LIKE: This year's program included a McCaffe security application that was downloaded with the Turbo Tax download. I canNOT get rid of the anti-virus software. I have uninstalled more than once and the damn thing keeps popping back up. For that reason alone, we are using a different tax program for 2023 and the following tax seasons. ... show more

    • The Gold Standard of Tax Programs
And using TurboTax (TTax), you'll quickly see why I consider it the gold standard. I've been using it for at least ten years. Before I started using TTax, I was using TaxCut. TTax is definitely more user-friendly. I like how there's help and definitions during every step along the way. The big fear I had was encountering difficulty if I needed to repeat something, or go back to a different phase of my taxes. Don't worry, as I did; it's really easy to do that and then pick up later where you left off. I highly recommend TTax to all tax DIYers. I bought the Deluxe version as it handles investments, and it handles them elegantly. Also, it'll keep your info for the following years, so you don't have to duplicate all the standard stuff. ... show more

    • Second Year in a Row, will NOT install [updated]
This is the second year in a row that the DL version will NOT install. Never had this problem with the CD version until 2021, when the DL version downloads but will NOT install. I appear not to be the ONLY one, and am on the cusp of stopping my use of TT off of Amazon. UPDATE OK, after playing around I found a work around. My WIN 10 has two accounts. BOTH are supposedly "administrator" but one is my Name and the other just "Administrator". On a wild guess I opened the "Administrator" account and tried the install of the downloaded TT. SURPRISE!!! It installed instantly. I don't know if this will help anyone else but it's worth a try. I upgraded TT rating to four stars for now, and will revise at the end of the tax year. ... show more

Fairly easy to input/ import data. Even somewhat unusual or complex situations are covered clearly. I sent it online early and got my $$ in less than 2 weeks!

Unless you have a very complex income situation you should find this product easy to use. After many years paying way too much to a tax preparer this is my 10th year doing it on my own and saving many hundreds of $ each time. Once, due to my own oversight in leaving out an income source, I had to refile and this product was very easy to use to adjust and send in an amended return .. which was accepted no problem by the IRS. ... show more
