  • Who knew sealing marble and grout could be so easy?
Wow - what a great product. 1) Easy to use - it is the consistency of water and spreads easily. I just poured some on a microfiber cloth to seal a granite countertop. 2) Terrific results - I used 2 applications, with about 60 minutes in between applications, and the water beads on the marble now. Also used on a tiled shower to seal the grout, and the water does not darken/soak into the grout anymore. 3) No discoloration or staining/streaking. Other products I've used left streaks, but Tuff Duck applies clear with no streaking. ... show more

  • Amazing as a Grout Sealer
This is amazing. We just moved into a brand new house and I am going to be sealing every inch of grout! I have this wood-look tile in the dining room with pretty light grout and I do NOT wanting it turning black over time. Bought this based on the reviews. I also bought some condiment bottles to dispense this just over the grout line and the application was so easy. I put on plenty and made sure it stayed wet for 10 minutes, then I wiped the excess off with a paper towel. Then I went back and did a second coat right after. We went to do an errand and when I came back I tested a spot, photo included. When wet this grout looks the same color as the tiles (first photo), when dry it is white. You can see in the photo how well it beads up! I am amazed. Thank goodness for this product! I will say that I think it brightened our grout just a bit; I mean it seems a little more whiter than before. That’s fine with me but may affect someone else’s grout color. It went on clear as water but I did find a spot or two on the tile that didn’t get wiped up completely and then dried and it was a milky white. Thank you so much, Tuff Duck! ... show more

  • Research before, not after...
After I treated my granite counter tops and not being 100% satisfied, I did some research. (Yeah, bass-ackwards). This product, (and probably most others), is not meant to fill in or smooth out granite that has "feel-able" pits or rough places in it. I was expecting too much. I revised my expectations, and Tuff Duck did just what it was supposed to. Good product and good results. Note on cleaning granite. Our counters have held up great, considering I treated them as indestructible for 22 years, and, not knowing any better, (also trying to keep toxic cleaners to a minimum), cleaned them daily with white vinegar. That's my fault and a no-no for granite. Online, many of the companies that sell natural rock say that most commercial cleaners are too harsh, so some have published simple, homemade recipes that will clean and disinfect stone without harming the surface. The cleaner usually consists of rubbing alcohol, water, a few drops of dish soap or Castille soap, and, (optionally), a few drops of an essential oil. I now use a spray bottle with this mixture, and it works as well as the vinegar. There is a little alcohol smell, (which quickly dissipates). I also emailed the company with a question, and they responded immediately. I'm a happy camper. Also, a granite polish, on top of this, improved the look and feel. ... show more

  • Great product
Used this product for my concrete counter top. It evened up the color of the concrete as well as made it a small shade darker which I think made it look even better. It says it can seal in one coat but I found it took 2 coats at initial sealing, let cure, and then a 2nd sealing coat 24 hours later but it passed the water test! I then used wax to finish off my counter tops and they now look amazing. Would def. recommend if you're looking for a penetrating sealer to preserve the natural look of the counter top. ... show more

  • Good for light stones / grout, terrible for dark grout.
Going to write two reviews in one due to my varying results. 5-Star - I used this sealer on a light colored granite counter top, as well as, light grey sanded grout, and it worked fantastic. It is very easy to apply, and cleanup is extremely easy. The sealant doesn't have any strong odors and it leaves the finished product waterproof and is invisible when dried. Would use again for this application 1-Star - I also used this on dark grey 'charcoal' sanded grout with very poor results. When it dries, it leaves a light colored residue on the grout lines. Essentially turning my dark grey grout, into a light grey grout. Furthermore, the residue is inconsistent along the grout lines, so you can easily tell from some areas darker and some areas lighter. I tried recommendations from the manufacturer to reapply the sealer, then scrub with a nylon brush, then wipe immediately. While this helped a little, it still looks really bad. Whatever you do, do not buy this for dark grout or you will not be happy. As a substitute, I tried the 511 Impregnator Sealer for my remaining dark grout, and it worked fantastic! The only drawback to this sealer is that it is oil based so the fumes are very harsh. So in summary, buy this for light colored surfaces, but do not buy it for dark surfaces, especially dark grout. On a side note, customer service was very helpful and a pleasure to work with. ... show more
