I used this for the first time today and it is very easy to use. It definitely beats having to bend down and insert the pin through a traditional transom saver that attaches to a trailer. You just run the motor up a little higher than normal and then lower it until the support is in place. It seems to be made well. It appears to be a very hard rubber. When you lower your motor though it will compress a good bit, but I think that is okay. It is definitely dense enough that there is no bouncing around. I think I will really like this product. However, this is not a transom saver. It will save your hydraulics by keeping the motor from bouncing, but it takes no stress off of the transom. For me, this is okay because I live 3 miles from the lake, so this is perfect for short trips. I probably would not use this for long trips, and especially if you are towing on rough roads. This is precisely as described. It's a little heavier than I expected, but I guess I didn't really think it through - it makes sense for it's density and size. Glad to have it, and I'll be winterizing the boat this weekened.

I have had my 19' fishing boat, with a 200 HP Evinrude engine for 2 years now. In that time, I have lost 3 transom savers, the pole type. These things are not cheap ($90 each) and while I like them, they seem to vibrate loose while driving and you don't know they are gone, until you are home. This block transom saver, is a cheaper alternative and does a very similar job, keeps the motor from bouncing around. Super easy to install and seem to be very snug (once you trim the engine down to pinch it into place). I have been out twice and at the end of each trip, the transom saver was there and in place, when I arrived at my destinations. I like that this is also small (size of a beer can), so easy to store when using the boat. I was also surprised at how beefy they are, makes me think that the rubber used, is very dense, which is what is needed to hold the kind of weight that a 200 engine has. 2 Thumbs up for these. ... show more

Does what it says in the name. Takes some pressure off the transom during transport. Fit is nice and snug so I am not worried that it is going to fall off.
