The Tapo Camera is excellent in terms of build quality and features. The video resolution is clear and detailed, and the pan/tilt function works smoothly, making it perfect for monitoring pets or as a baby monitor. Motion detection and tracking are reliable, and the two-way audio is clear on both ends. I also appreciate the flexibility of cloud and SD card storage options, and integration with Alexa and Google Home is seamless. My only complaint is the app’s responsiveness—it’s quite slow at times. Navigating menus, accessing the live feed, or adjusting settings can be frustratingly laggy, especially when you’re in a hurry. The 2K resolution provides clear and detailed video, which is perfect for monitoring my dogs. The pan and tilt functions are smooth and cover a wide range, making it easy to adjust the view remotely. Subscription for Advanced Features: The camera works great out of the box, but if you want to use advanced features like cloud storage, you’ll need a subscription.     • Great for Continuous Recording with Micro SD Card

I’ve only been using this for about 15 minutes so I’ll update my review if my opinion changes but this thing is fantastic. I needed an inexpensive camera that will continuously record. This one seemed to be capable of that if using a micro SD card (purchased separately) but I wasn’t sure how it would work exactly. I purchased a 256 Gb Sandisk High Endurance Video card along with this camera. I’m very familiar with setting up smart cameras and this one was among the easiest I’ve ever set up, possibly the easiest. Once set up and after installing the card, the app told me the card needed to be formatted and easily walked me through a couple of clicks to do that. I turned on continuous recording and the app allows me to easily see both live video and scroll through the history. It can also notify me and provides a recorded clip of motion or sound alerts while continuously recording. These are shown on the continuous recording in orange so I can easily scroll to that point in the continuous recording to see the video before and after the alert. It tracks the motion and then resets to the original position after a few seconds. I can easily clip and download sections of the recorded video. The video quality is very good.     • Goodbye Wyze, hello Tapo!

I’ll be writing this on all the Tapo cameras I’ve recently purchased. (4x C110, 2x C210, 2x C520WS) These are flawless, amazing, and so far ahead of Wyze it’s not even funny. They are massively affordable, truly need no subscription, have fantastic features in their app, can record locally to an SD card; everything you would want. Coming from Wyze (see more below), I didn’t know that cameras were supposed to act like this. I assumed, at Wyze prices, that I was getting what I paid for. But when I finally had enough constant stress and spent the money to change to Tapo… my life has been changed. Seriously, I probably added years to my life not being so stressed out all the time because my cameras never, ever worked right. These do, and I cannot say it enough times… if you’re currently using Wyze then get one of these. Use it for a week side-by-side and tell me what you think. Super light, have a few of mine mounted with ‘hard plastic velcro’ (3M Dual Lock). Setup is fast and easy, and works right away. Don’t have to do it over and over again (Wyze). Clarity is superb - 1440p quality. Night vision is phenomenal. Don’t really care about ‘color’ night vision - but my outdoor ones do have it. And one of the best parts is Tapo is part of TP-Link. What does that mean? TP-Link has been around for a very long time, and they specialize in networking equipment, LoL. So yeah, if you want a reliable camera on your network, who better to trust than a networking company. TLDR: Don’t waste your time on any other brand. Buy these. I promise you won’t regret it. About Wyze: If you’re like me and never wanted to spend thousands on home monitoring and security, then you may have stumbled upon Wyze cameras. At first, they were amazing - very affordable with no subscription necessary. And they worked. Over time, that changed drastically as they ventured into making everything else on the planet instead of focusing on their roots (cameras). They funded that stuff by changing to a subscription policy. And in their haste had multiple security breaches and problems such as other people viewing cameras that aren’t theirs. This is of course while the software and hardware has become so incredibly bad that they’re unusable. I mean, they actually do not function 92% of the time. Whether it’s freezing, not connecting, stuttering so bad that it looks like a PowerPoint presentation, app for closing, etc. ... show more
