Its real children make up and it has all kinds of things in the kit. My girls play with it all the time and it is very gentle on their skin. I bought this as a Christmas present last year. Not really thinking. The plastic trays keep the case from lining up so my child could not close the case on her own. The makeup was harsh on her skin. Some of it eventually broke and made a mess. I eventually threw it away.
