I ordered these & they’re adorable...too bad they’re apparently designed for a stick figure child. I ordered the same size in schooling tights for my daughter & they’re plenty big enough with room to grow and breathe (I typically order he at least a full size larger than she actually measures to allow for growth and movement). These won’t even meet to begin zipping at the top of her calf. My daughter is an athlete (running and riding are her sports of choice), but isn’t heavily muscled, but these half chaps can in no way fit her. I don’t even know if there is a larger size if that would even be big enough. We are so very disappointed. Like I said they’re adorable, but if your child has any muscle at all to their calf you need to buy at minimum a size larger probably closer to 2 sizes larger. Another note is that I think the zippers are oriented wrong. The zipper meets/begins at the top of the 1/2 chap, but it seems it would make more sense to start from the bottom so you’re zipping up (like jeans) instead of down your leg. That would also get the zipper away from the ankle bone. Since the zipper is covered, it’s not that big of a deal, but I think the other orientation would make more sense. For reference I bought the 12-14 size. Laid flat, from zipper to zipper at the top is a little more than 10”. The label inside is marked CL on one tag and 40 on another tag. Nice, inexpensive chaps. My daughter was super excited about them. Unfortunately, they run somewhat small. I was able to fight them on to her a couple times and then it just wasn't worth the struggle for me.

These are adorable and durable, but they run small. My daughter wears a 14 slim in riding breeches, and the child's 12-14 barely zip.

A size large do fit my 10-yr old daughter well. But my daughter is the skinny type and they fit perfect on her, which is good. So I would expect a normal size 10 yr old may find the size large small. Great quality though. I like them.,

Quality is lacking. Zipper broke while I was putting them on my daughter for the first time. I was not forcing it. It just came off in my hand and when I inspected it, the metal had broken. Also on the same one the zipper broke, the top snap came off and is unusable. This set has never been ridden in, she never got to wear them. ... show more

They seem to be holding up well; no issues with the zipper so far. My daughter loves the colors and while they aren't padded, they do the job and stopped the pinching from the leathers.
