Description

TotalBoat Wet Edge Topside Marine Boat Paint is an easy-to-use, 1-component, polyurethane marine grade paint that provides a beautiful, brilliant, resilient, high-gloss finish on hulls, cabin tops, consoles and other topside surfaces above the waterline. Use on fiberglass, wood, metals and previously painted surfaces in good condition. Provides excellent weather resistance so the finish retains its superior color quality and gloss. Once cured, the extremely durable finish will not fade, lift, crack, or peel. The high-solids content in Wet Edge makes it look better and last longer. It's also why you need to apply thin coats - 2 to 3 coats are all you need for long-lasting beauty and shine. Wet Edge gives you the high gloss and durability of a 2-part polyurethane without all the hard work. It's very easy to apply, has excellent flow out, and dries perfectly smooth. For best results, prime bare wood or previously painted surfaces with TotalBoat Premium Topside Primer. Use TotalBoat Dewaxer & Surface Prep as a solvent wipe to remove grease, oil and other contaminants. Wet Edge may be thinned with TotalBoat Special Brushing Thinner 100 (brush/roll application) or xylene (spray application). Application temperature is 50-90 degrees F. Wet Edge is also compatible with non-skid additives and flattening agents for 1-component polyurethane paint. Compare Wet Edge marine paint for fiberglass boats to Interlux Brightside Polyurethane, Pettit Easypoxy and Pettit EZPoxy, Rustoleum Marine Topside Paint, Duralux Marine Paint and Epifanes Monourethane. Wet Edge offers superior durability, color retention, gloss retention, and weather resistance, which also makes it an ideal canoe paint, kayak paint, camper paint, rv exterior paint, or golf cart paint. For an excellent aluminum boat paint, use TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Topside Paint. All TotalBoat products are developed for boaters by boaters, to provide great value and great results. 100% made in the USA.

  • Follow Instructions and Get Near-Spray Quality Finish
Color: Yellow Size: 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
First, I had never painted a boat and was dubious about reports of near-spray quality results with any of the boat paints. My boat is old so I figured anything would be an improvement. I chose Total Boat mainly because it was easier through Amazon. I mixed two parts Yellow with one part Fighting Lady. (Can't add pigment. You have to mix Wet Edge paint instead). I was amazed at the smooth finish of the final paint job. I think that it is 85% of a spray job. If I had thought that it would turn out this well I would have been more careful with the primer coats and prep. Advice: Painting outdoors is challenging. Each coat takes several days to dry and then you have to fight rain, humidity and temperature. I finished it in the garage and it was a snap. For me, the primer was really thick, went on with a lot of orange peel and it dried slowly, and it was clumping during sanding because I didn't let it cure (all problems were user error). When the primer was cured it was easily sanded down and may have helped with smoothing the fiberglass imperfections. The primer prep is he key to a quality paint job. Take your time here. The paint went on well. The first coat had some orange peel because I put it on too thick and didn't have a quality paint brush. It was remediated when I sanded it down (again, wait for it to cure!). I applied the last coat uncomfortably thin with tip and roll, and it turned out marvelous! It took 1 gallon of primer and about 1/2 gallon of paint for an 18' boat. Use a 1/8" foam roller (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0168S0ETE?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1) for the areas you want to look perfect, and use a true badger hair brush (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000N9LE80?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1). It is worth the money for this task. ... show more

  • Great paint!
Color: White Size: 128 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Great product! I wanted to give a review based on longevity. It has been about 6 months since I applied the paint and it has held up very well except where the top to my Magma grill was beating against it in a storm. It went on very easy and still looks great and very hard. I did the roll and tip method by myself. I'm not a professional but it definitely isn't my first time painting either. I was very pleased with the results. Mirror like shine with very minor brush strokes (most likely because I did it alone and the sun was out). The professional painters from the boatyard were inquiring about the paint after they saw the results and watching me at work. One of the yard customers noted that my paint job was better than his freshly sprayed paint job from said professionals...and at 1/10th of the cost and 1/2 of the time. I painted two coats in 4' sections on a 36' sailboat with 3.5' topsides utilizing a 6" foam roller and 4" premium grade dry brush. I found a larger roller seemed to work better possibly because the paint skins over fairly quickly in the sun and breeze and if you're not careful the tipping will leave brush marks and the roller marks were more difficult to blend. ... show more

  • Excellent Product
Color: Largo Blue Size: 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Bought this to paint my pool slide in place instead of taking it down and taking it to a body shop to be sprayed with automotive enamel. Pleasantly surprised when I opened the can - color and consistency both very good. Emptied it into my bucket and then used mineral spirits to “wash” the can in order to pick up any pigment residue. I used mineral spirits as a thinner since I was brushing this on and wanted to give it time to flash out before drying. Paint went on smoothly and covered very well using a Purdy nylon brush. Cleaned my brush with gasoline for first two cleaning and mineral spirits for the last one each time. Drying time between coats was overnight and there were no soft spots. Couple of sags where I over applied it but they sanded out quickly. Have now applied three coats scuffing between coats with a Scotchbrite pad and I am very pleased with the results. Appears to have bonded well and the gloss is outstanding. As with any oil based enamel it takes some practice when brushing it on - it is prone to sags and runs if too much is applied. Will be interesting to see how this holds up through a swimming season and the blazing sun. ... show more

  • I had great results .I used 1 primer underneath the Topside Wetedge paint
Color: Sea Green Size: 128 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
First, I stirred the 1 gallon Wetedge can with a drill attachment for a few minutes. thinned it using 10% Thinner 100. And stirred again with drill attachment. I used a roller only. And it was a Wooster nap roller with a 1/4" nap (not recommended by Totalboat) . Totalboat recommends to used foam rollers for the Topside paint , but it was easier for me to use a nap roller. It still looks great imo . But if I could tip and roll , then I'd go that route. Unfortunately, I had nobody to help me tip so I took a risk and used a nap roller. I thinned the paint with 100 Thinner by %10. Stirred and applied. My boat is a 12' ft boat. I'm almost positive I'll have enough for 4 coats and then some. I'll use the leftover Topside to paint parts of the trailer. For the record, the pictures I provided show only 1 coat of Topside Wetedge (over 1 coat of 1 part Primer) color : Sea Green ... show more
