  • Good Buy if You Need a Helmet at an Economical Cost W/Bluetooth
Size: X-Large Color: Flat Black Flag
I like to review products objectively and accurately. So, to that end, I submit this for your approval. If TLDR skip to the end. Comfort and fit: The helmet is true to size. Like other reviews, my ears folded a little bit when I put it on sometimes, but that is a non issue depending on ear size, how the helmet is donned, and break-in of the helmet padding. The chin strap is not invasive and fits comfortably under my chin and not too far back as to be uncomfortable or interfere with swallowing or talking. Weight is acceptable and comparable to the standard full face on the market. The padding is adequate and seems to be durable. Some of the interior foam is showing on the inside above the speakers, but that is only an aesthetic issue. The helmet holds firm to the head when strapped properly with minimal head shake. Protection and safety: As far as protection and safety is concerned, I am satisfied that the helmet is DOT certified. From a safety standpoint, wind noise is higher than my previous helmet. When I think about the wind noise it can be a little overwhelming, but overall not too bad. There will be wind noise. You're on a motorcycle. The visor is adequate and seals to the front of the helmet well. Clear child conveys which is acceptable due to the internal sun visor. Features: The sun visor operation is smooth and easy to operate. It locks in both the up and down positions. When locked in the down position the visor doesn't seem to be held entirely firm in place. In other words, operate the visor using the helmet switch only. Potential for breakage may be high if operated via the visor itself. However, shouldn't be an issue as there is no reason to operate it manually. The sun visor could stand to be a little darker, but it is adequate for the application. With direct sun, I had to squint a little bit. Overhead sun is not a problem. The main visor is a little slack in the "vented" position. It will snap close at road speed. (I mentioned this because I know a lot of riders like to "vent" the main visor to prevent or remove fogging.) This issue is partially alleviated during daylight by the ability to use the sun (internal) visor and leave the main visor up. Chin strap is standard and easy to operate. The vents are present, and well designed aesthetically, but the operation of the vents seems like an afterthought. Ventilation is not very good and can only be felt at higher speeds (>60mph). The graphics on the helmet are EXTREMELY subdued compared to the photo. Don't expect to be able to readily see the flag graphic. It was one of the reasons I bought the flag and not the plain matte. My suggestion is to save the additional money and purchase the plain matte or high gloss black. Design: Well designed and good looking helmet. This, of course, is subjective. However, I do not believe that it will make your head look big or floppy. The sharp angles are conducive to design and flow well across the helmet. Bluetooth knob in a good spot. Could stand to be an inch more to the front (as well as the sun visor switch). Be careful with the knob. It seems that it could break easy if you are not careful under gloved hand. It feels loose in the setting. Operation should be limited to rotating the knob and depressing the center Bluetooth: The moment you've been waiting for (of probably skipped to as I did in the reviews I read). The speakers are adequate. At max volume there is a little distortion while listening to music. The max volume is loud enough for even a loud bike (95 HD Sportster Custom with straight pipes...my bike is pretty dang loud). Low tones lack a little bit, but having music at all trumps most of the quality issues. There are no directions for operation of the Bluetooth. You are left to figure it out. Read the end to see what I found out. There is also some "skipping" or "dropping" off of music playback. It USUALLY goes away after about 20 seconds or so if it happens. I have not experienced any static, yet. The helmet is designed with the speakers in mind, so there is no ear interference (or very minimal). The microphone...horrible. Phone calls can be heard well, but the person on the other end can not hear when rolling; even at low speeds. There is droning and interference. I was told like I "sound like a robot" and "talking through a tube" and "talking in a tunnel" when I was going faster than about 15MPH. The problem seems to be with wind interference around the lower mouth area of the helmet. Some of the problem was partially solved when I blocked the entire lower portion of the helmet (dangerous while riding, but helped me diagnose the issue). Changing volume, tone, and rate of speech didn't help at all. The person on the other end said they could hear the road noise and my bike just fine... Overall: Good helmet for the cost. I would recommend this to anyone. If you are looking for high quality then spend the money. This is a great "entry level" Bluetooth helmet that any owner would be happy to own. The microphone need a lot of work and the speakers are adequate. The helmet is comfortable and the visors are excellent. This would be a good buy if you are looking to save some money but still have good protection for your dome piece. Four stars because of the microphone, apparent quality of Bluetooth components, overall quality, cost for product, features, and fit. It's a good product and I would purchase again if need be. MUST READ THIS!!!!!! Here is what I found out about basic operation of the BT with iOS: Music: pairing is easy. Hold down the button until the lights alternate to get it into pairing mode. Double press to play/pause music playback. Rotate and release clockwise to increase VOL (counterclockwise to decrease). Rotate and hold clockwise approx. 3 seconds or (until the beep) for NEXT TRACK (counterclockwise for PREVIOUS TRACK {within first 3 seconds of track}. Press once to answer/hang up calls. Keep your phone screen-up in you pocket so you can activate Siri (for voice dial/command) as needed. I have not used navigation, but I imagine the voice turn-by-tun is ... show more

  • This helmet works very well. Unfortunately, first hand experience.
Size: X-Large Color: Flat Black Flag
This helmet saved my life. I was cut off on a State highway in traffic and had to lay my bike down. I baseball slid and pushed the bike away so it didn’t roll on me. It was textbook, except for the dozen fractures is sustained. But, the helmet did its job and I suffered no head injuries at all. Before my crash, I used the Bluetooth all the time. The battery life lasts for long trips all day. The speaker quality is excellent. Here is the only drawback, which mattered more before my crash. The microphone is useless unless you are stopped and idling at most. I could make and receive calls, but not even while cruising at 20 mph. Of course, riding requires even more attention than driving in my opinion, so calls are not really an issue for me. Given that it’s safety first, that is the point of this helmet. It looks good, it works great. ... show more

  • All the features I wanted, nothing worked as it should of.
Size: XX-Large Color: Gloss Black
Pretty disappointed with the helmet purchase. Let me start with what I was looking for, and then tell you what I got. I wanted a non-modular helmet so I could use it on the street as well as the track and where I could listen to music while riding without having to wear ear buds, and also answer the occasional phone call if needed. I wanted a drop down visor as well, and a good fitting helmet. After looking through numerous sites I ended up on the Torc brand because it had all the features I wanted at a decent price... though there were a lot of options on the bay (mostly if not all from china) around the 100-140 mark with the same features, this by the reviews, looked like it was worth spending the extra money on. Fitting: I wear a shoei XL right now (RF1200) non Bluetooth as my main. It fits perfect. My Head size is 7"5/8-7"3/4 and approx. 23"3/4-24" I should be a XL and still have a little room to wear a skull cap underneath. After reading reviews I decided to upsize and order the XXL (the Largest size they make). It came in and fit so tight it actually hurt my head to wear. It put so much pressure that I honestly think it would be a medium or large at the most with any other reseller. So number one, if you know you wear an XL helmet (or larger), Torc does not make a size for you. Visor, The visor is the same drop visor you have on other much cheaper models (under the 60 dollar range) and it functions no better. I flicked the switch back and forth a few times to test it, and realized it would come up about 9/10ths of the way and the bottom lip would still stick out a bit. You could then press it all the way in by hand, but with that said it looks like it will get faulty after a while of uses and start to drop down a bit on its own. Looks The looks are great, it is a great looking helmet and I think it has a very nice design to it if it would in fact work as it should. Bluetooth And this was the killer for me, I was actually willing to deal with the pressure of the helmet being made not to size... (hoping that it would gradually fit better with time) because I really just wanted a working Bluetooth helmet. Sadly this is what ended any hope of me using this helmet. The blue tooth is quite frankly horrid. Sound played out of mostly just the right speaker, and had a bunch of static and popping noise. Sounded, well, unusable. I put the helmet on and though it connected easily to my Samsung phone, making a phone call in a quite room (not even on a bike) I could barely here the other person. (not to mention the popping) I have a Ducati superbike that's a track bike. On just the start up of the bike (at idle) I could not hear anything coming from the Bluetooth, let alone actually riding or racing. Maybe if you have an electric scooter you may be able to hear something. Testing: Using Bose SoundSport earbuds in my shoei was not a fair comparison.. so I decided to use the worst headset I could, which was my kids earbuds in that we bought from '5 Below' (yes they were 5 dollar wireless earbuds) I connected them to my phone and in my shoei I could at least hear the music play. Meaning the speakers and Bluetooth in this Torc helmet is worst then a 5 dollar set. Long story short this is a nice 60 dollar helmet with a 20 dollar Bluetooth set at best. If it goes down to a price near what's it s worth, and you decide to buy.. You will need to order at least 1 size though most likely 2 sizes bigger. If you are a medium buy an XL if you are a large buy and XXL and if you are an extra large buy another helmet. IF you don't care about the Bluetooth features well than just buy another helmet, there are many around the 40-70 dollar range without Bluetooth at the same quality. Its Currently repacked outside and waiting for UPS to come pick it up...and another week after till I get my money back. At 200 dollars plus tax, I can not recommend this helmet. I am going to just buy a quality Bluetooth set and fit it to another helmet. My suggestion to the manufacture, put in a better Bluetooth system, yes you can charge more, but you need to upgrade the speakers... if you need to charge 250 instead, that's fine... but put in some better quality speakers in that actually work... and finally test the system before selling it. Hopefully this review saved you from a time waste. ... show more
