Am generally very happy with the purchase. It's my first time trying Topo Athletic shoes. Great Vibram outsole, very comfortable midsole. The fit is good. Looks great. I've been using this as a hiking shoe, and it has worked great. I spent some time hiking on and around the Appalachian trail, without a break-in period, and had no problems wearing this shoe every day. The fit, cushion, traction, and stability has been excellent.

I typically wear a Brooks Ghost or Adrenaline in 11.5m. I ordered the MT-5 in 11.5, but they seemed a bit too long. I'm reordering an 11, so we'll see how that works. Seem to have an nice build quality, and are very comfortable. As expected, a nice wide toe box. Other than sizing, it's a 5 star, granted i haven't put any miles on them. Stay tuned ... show more

Great shoes for walking. Has wide toe box so toes are not crapped causing bunions. The rest of shoe is regular so heel and rest of foot fit comfortably without extra width of a wide size

    • Alternative to Altra"s Lone Peak 6

I didn't think any shoe would pull me away from my Altra Lone Peak 6. This shoe (Topo MT-5) is a great alternative. It has the wide toe box similar to the Altra. That's a good thing. Light weight just like the Altra Lone Peak 6. The Lone Peak is a zero drop shoe and can take a little adjustment period. This shoe has a very small drop from heel to toe. For me, it is just the right alternative to a flat bed shoe. The sizing was perfect. Also, the Topo sole is less knobby than the Altra Lone Peak and thus feels a bit better to use as a casual everyday shoe in addition to road running. If you are looking for something similar to an Altra Lone Peak but with a tiny drop, a wide toe box and more cushioning you might want to give the Topo MT-5 a test drive. ... show more

This is what Altra's used to be... good fit, quality upper and treads. I've used these on several hikes and trail runs (about 150 miles on them so-far) and they're in great shape. I've switched my road running shoes over to Topo as well and have been really happy too
