I'm no longer the trail rider I was once but I still like long rides with my family on mostly paved and packed dirt paths and trails and occasional single single-track trails. One of the things that I've wanted to try was to find a grip that had more palm support where I could rest my hands from gripping the handlebar. I think that addresses that but it comes with some caveats compared to my older grips which were round but very grippy and had a soft cushioning grip. I angled these grips so that when I'm seated at my normal seat height, my wrists are more straight from my elbow down to my fingertips in hopes of relieving wrist pain after riding. I also needed to rotate the brake and shifter to fix the alignment. I don't particularly like the how the bar end is installed, it's an odd configuration of a screw, lock washer, a nut and a rubber bushing that expands when you tighten the allen head screw. It took quite a bit of effort to install it requiring some dish soap on the rubber for lubrication and a rubber mallet to pound it in to my handle. Because this bar end cap's fit is very tight, it makes it difficult to rotate the angle of your grip without distorting the grip itself. After some trial and error with a combination of an allen wrench and slow rotation of the grip, I was able to get to the angle I wanted. I then secured the aluminum collar to prevent the grip from shifting and finally tightened up the bar end. Aside from the slight trouble installing the grip, the grip itself is contoured and textured for better grip but it is hard and doesn't offer much if any cushioning. I hope that these will work in the long run. My hands and wrists tend to get sore and numb on long rides. I got these handlebar grips as a place to rest my hands and stretch or flex my fingers, without stopping, while still being able to maintain control of the bike. On these grips the area where my fingers lay towards the front, feels hard, without cushion; the grey part has a grippy but, rough texture that may irritate after riding a while; this grip tends to twist on the handle if it is held too tight or pushed on too hard where the palm rests even, after tightening twice as tight as I thought was feasible; the pointed lip at the edge will keep hands from slipping off, protects fingers at the outer edge when brushing up against trees and will allow you to easily ride with an underhand thumb grip to temporarily change hand position to give wrists a rest on long rides. ... show more

These are not a bad option for replacement grips for the price point. They are easy to install with an allen wrench and end caps included. Good ergonomic design and proper stiffness without being too mushy. Recommended for the leisure rider.

I received these bike handlebar grips in October 2023. I received the "Rubber Black/Grey" version which had the most contoured shape out of the other available product variations at the time. The product pictures on the Amazon page were accurate and the grips I received looked like the pictures. Out of the package these grips slid onto my Trek mountain bike's handlebars nicely and I didn't need to take a screw driver to pry open the metal clamps wider like I have had to do with other grips. Other grips I have had used 2 metal clamps to hold the grips whereas these grips have just 1 metal clamp on the inner end and the outer end uses an expanding/locking end cap. Since there is only 1 metal clamp you do really need to make sure you have the metal clamp tight and the end cap locked/expanded as tight as you can get it. When I initially installed the grips they were fine when riding over sidewalks and roads. However when I started to go on rocky trails the grips started sliding around on me. I had to stop and really crank down on the metal clamp screw and the locking end cap to get them tight. Once I did this I didn't have any further problems with the grips sliding around on me and I used them over rocky trails for 2 hours without any further issues. The grips supported my palms well. I did wish the front of the grips were wider but someone with smaller hands may think the opposite so I won't deduct any stars for this. The grips appear to be well made. Overall I think these grips are great and I plan to keep them on my bike until something better comes along. ... show more

    • Comfortable grip but hardware issues

The good is these grips are very comfortable and really help with hand position, especially during climbs. They also have good grip and seem to work well with my gloves. The right hand grip seem to go on very easily to secure for both the collar on the bar, and then the insert that goes into the bar to prevent it from moving. The left hand grip had all sorts of issues with the insert hardware though and I had to manually pull pieces out and rebuild it. After getting everything set the grips will still move a little if you torque them but not sure what else could be done to prevent that. So far I haven’t had the possible rotation cause any issues while riding but I can’t imagine it’s normal for them to be able to rotate under normal usage. ... show more

Hello...the bag says...and I open this to find these two fairly large, fairly heavy, definitely hard ergonomic handlebar grips/brush guards made of mostly semi-hard rubber/plastic. I thought that there was no way that I was going to keep these on the bike and I would be wrong. When I ride I have tried many hand grips to keep my hands from getting numb when on longer rides and nothing solves it completely..until these. I though that it had to do with softness..when it really has to do with shape....for whatever reason, if you place these correctly on the bike (I put them on the handlebars loose and got on the bike and grabbed them like I would naturally do when riding, and then tightened them up so they don't move) and they feel perfect and finally have solve the tingling in my hands. ... show more
