I purchased one for the home group of a zoom bible study. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make the 4 hour drive to make it that weekend but I was able to send it with someone else the following weekend. The thing is, I'm the "tech guy" for the group. The fear that came over the face of the one who turns everything on when I told them I needed their help to set up the mic, well, I couldn't help but laugh. I got it with a usb extension cable so that it could be moved closer to the group seating. I talked them through plugiing the mic into the extension and then switching it out with the other mic. Zoom doesn't automatically stwich microphones, so I talked them through that and turning it up in the in the Zoom settings. Bingo, it was the clearest they have been since I first them up. I sent this microphone to my daughter to replace the one she was using on our Skype and Discord video call sessions as an "experiment" to see whether the poor sound quality I was experiencing was due to her microphone, her laptop or whatever. The quality improved somewhat. It works much better when she doesn't move too far away while dealing with her young children.     • Flaky 'mute' (power) button
The 'power' (mute) button is touch-sensitive, not mechanical. The one on mine would not work consistently. I tapped it, banged on, used different fingers, tried sliding my finger across it, etc. Sometimes it worked. Used on Teams and many times I had to type in the chat window for the other parties to wait for me while I unplugged the mic and plugged it back in. If you do that it will power on.     • Two microphones, both failed the same way
I like the mic, it works well, no issues with set up. Plug it in, there it is. My issue is that the blue LED that illuminates when the mic is "open" fails. I had one for about two years and the light got dimmer then failed (there are a few tiny blue LEDs inside). I bought another thinking it was a fluke, but second one maybe a year old or so, also same thing. The light is just BARELY on at this point and I presume it will fail soon. The reason I bought this thing was because I hate having to use the application controls to mute or unmute the mic. I can just touch the button on an external mic. Without the mute button, there's really no reason to have an external mic. People have told me it sounds nice, but honestly, I don't really care what it sounds like as long as it's not worse than the built-in mic on the laptop. I would avoid this, it's disposable. I took it apart with the hope that maybe I could add a new LED, but they are TINY. There is no way an individual with a soldering iron could successfully remove the existing LEDs much less replace it with something that would actually fit. They're like 1/4 the size of a grain of small rice. ... show more
