    • Where were these a few years ago
A few years back, I was searching for something exactly like this, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I put together stuff all the time, and I absolutely can't stand your typical Allen wrench, especially when I have to use it 50+ times on a project. This saves so much time it's almost insane. The only thing I'd warn is that you really want to go easy on some of those Allen bolts that come with furniture. These sockets are MUCH harder than those bolts, and they will strip out those bolts in about a half a second if you aren't careful. Do not just go full power with an impact, even a 1/4" impact, or you will run into issues. I haven't tried every single socket in there, but I have tried most of the smaller ones. The smaller ones fit quite well for the most part. Well, as long as the bolt is cut properly. I have definitely run into some screws that just don't fit any size properly. Those are extremely easy to strip. That's not the fault of this set though. It's just that most furniture comes with the cheapest screws the company could find. The case arrived in one piece and actually holds the sockets well. Make sure that they are all in there tightly and they shouldn't go flying when you open it. It's just a plastic case, of course, so be careful with it. The bits themselves seem quite high quality. I've used the small ones quite a few times already and they are no worse for wear. I'm not sure that they would hold up very long to daily, hard use in a shop, but they are more than good enough for the typical DIYer. ... show more

This is not a commercial quality tool. But for a homeowner doing basic projects that occaisionally need these allens, they save a ton of hassles and even more time. They are well made, but you can tell the steel is a little bit on the soft side. It isn't horrible though. In fact its pretty good. It just isn't going to stand up to work in an auto shop for example. My favorite feature is how short these are... they allow you to reach tight spaces well. The only real downside is the case. It's kind of cheap (even for blow molding). It holds bits fine, but it feels brittle. I wouldn't trust it to handle drops or even items being set on top of it. Otherwise I am please with the set. Value is insanely good. You won't be able to find a complete set even at the well know cheap tool store for anywhere near close this. I've been using them intermittently on cars for the past couple of months and had zero issues. Quality is great. Tolerances are great too which is important as undersized bits increase chances of stripping bolts. So far did not strip a single one. Great set ... show more

I wish I had bought something like this years ago. Having allen key sockets in a huge variety of sizes is just incredibly handy. I got this through the Vine program as it lists above but if I had paid full retail, I would still have felt like this was a great deal. These probably aren't top-tier durability, but they seem pretty strong and I have not found any problems yet. The case that they come in isn't great but it is OK. Do yourself a favor and immediately label the top and bottom - you do not want to accidentally open this upside down, and it's pretty easy to do that unless you add more labeling yourself. Still - incredibly happy with this and if you do any kind of work on machinery or cars or just building flat-pack furniture, you probably will be too. ... show more

    • Really solid Hex-Bit driver set - For someone that has a lot of hex head bolts to deal with.
I really just wanted to get a set of hex heads for some smaller work with bikes and motorcycles. This kit definitely has the range of sizes I needed and then some. The larger sizes are close to lug nut removal sizes, which I don't have much of a use for, but other ones fall into what wanted. Might be overkill if you don't face Hex bolts of all sizes often enough, but that would not be the tools fault. Case is standard plastic molded job, but hold the bits well enough - needs a little breaking in to make the case "let go" of the tool heads. All-in-all - pretty good set! ... show more

It varies in drive sizes from a 1/4 " - 3/8 " - 1/2 " so if you find yourself needing a hex bit it's more than likely going to be in this set. These come in a latch locking box with a guide to show you what's what. This is a great gift idea for yourself or for the mechanic in your family. I think everyone with machinery (woodworking, metalworking, etc) should own a kit of this type. There are times where an allen key or screwdriver just isn't enough and you need to get out the old ratchet or breaker bar to generate enough torque. This is a pretty unassuming kit, shrink wrapped and delivered without much fanfare or advertising. What you get is a whole ton of different sizes. The metal appears to be of good quality for the price point. (I'm no machinist, but S2 is becoming very popular). The larger sizes are particularly useful as you aren't going to find allen keys of that size very easily. The value of this kit is in having it on hand when you need it. There will come a time when you have to disassemble your planer, jointer, milling machine (etc). If you have to run out to the local store to buy an appropriate bit, you'll probably end up paying half the price of this kit (and waiting for 2 weeks for it to come in).
