I love the concept of this screen door. When I saw the price, I wasn't expecting much, but I figured for the money it wouldn't hurt to try. Last year I went through 4 screens on 2 doors. We have dogs and cats that go in and out ALL DAY LONG, as well as us farmer folks. The other screens were much lighter in design, and had individual magnetic bits about an inch long every 4" or so down the middle. The edges were a light ribbon. I even reinforced one of them with a heavier duty ribbon sewn on the outer edges, but it still tore and did not last. I just installed this magnetic door and these are the things I am already very pleased with: 1. The material is more heavy-duty than what I have used in the past. 2. The instructions are very clear to understand, and easy to follow. 3. The magnetic closure is contiguous from top to bottom, resulting in a quick, secure closure every time. 4. The adhesive strips are super-sticky. 5. Although the adhesive velcro wasn't cut into strips (as suggested by the directions), it was easy to cut and there was plenty of it. As an accomplished installer of magnetic screen doors, I have a few tips to offer to ensure first-time success. Make sure the woodwork is clean. Start with the top. I recommend not quite going to the floor with the screen, especially if you have a cat (they tend to like to lay half-in and half-out and play with the edge it it's dragging - really!). Peel the tape off of the whole top, then lightly position where it gives you the proper length. Stick it down tight. Taper the sides down so that the bottom is a bit narrower than the top. This might offend your OCD, but it will ensure the door closes every time. The backing is sometimes stubborn to remove. I recommend turning the edge toward you so you can keep it coming off without tearing into annoying little points. When it tries to do this (and it will, because the adhesive is that good), just pick the point and continue down slowly, peeling as you go. Be patient. Good things come to those who wait. Then gently position the sides at the suggested slight angle down to the bottom (really good adhesive, remember?) and make any adjustments before you commit those suckers to stick (there may be no going back at this point, but as an accomplished installer, I wouldn't know, LOL). USE YOUR OWN LIGHTWEIGHT FINISH NAILS, not the push tacks. This is a leftover from my prior experiences with cheap tacks. The provided tacks actually look pretty good, all things considered, but my husband insisted we use the tried-and-trued method now that we're experts (!). Tack the top corners and put 2 in the middle at the split. Tack the bottoms and a couple of places along the edges just for good luck. Enjoy your new screen! These are so inexpensive (I paid $30 each for the cheap crap I got last year), that I will be buying a couple more for friends and for next year. ADDENDUM 9/27/20 The provided tacks are really sturdy. My screens have lasted all year without rips, tears or any other damage. This is amazing considering the two new kittens added to the mix who have climbed them, played with bugs on the other side and generally abused them. THESE SCREENS ARE AMAZING! This is great!!! Much better than the previous one I had. I loved the idea of it, but the last one just slowly fell apart/became unstuck//had a couple magnet prices fall off/had too many places it let bugs due largely to the first issues. This one has nonstop Velcro which is sticking very well (I wiped wall with rubbing alcohol first, not sure if this or just stronger adhesive but nothing else I've tried to stick to this wall, such as command hooks, have lasted long at all. The magnets are continuous vs periodically placed magnets on my previous one and are sewn in so there's no way for them to become detached like my previous one. It never fails to 'self-close'. I am staying in an RV full time for now with husband and two kids. We seem to be pretty hard on things. One of my big worries was having the door, especially the screen door of our RV last, after seeing the cost, and wanted to try this. Beyond sparing the door a lot of wear I just love being able to leave the door fully open to the outdoors, with no bugs, vs the small screen of the screen door. I think I'd be feeling much more clostrophobic without it die to all the unexpected 'togetherness' the last few months. After the first one I figured I'd just have to periodically keep replacing them, which was still better that replacing the door. But this will obviously hold up much longer. It has been so great, convenient, and tough. It even had way more Velcro than needed to surround the door frame, not sure if it was on purpose or not, I assume so though it seemed like double what was needed, but ended up being very helpful when I took the backing off, realized I wasn't ready to place it, put it back on but accidentally stuck it to the non-slick side of the backing, then couldn't remove it again. Duh. I also love that it came with tacks for extra reinforcement, which I just added on top, and the suggestion to place the middle slightly higher like in my picture to help it close on its own. This has been way beyond worth the cost. EDIT The tacks, for me anyway, were a bad idea. Somehow it ended up being pulled too hard, the bottomed was resting on something in the doorway and was stepped on and ripped) This isn't any flaw in the design, it is very strong, just maybe use a couple tacks at the top corners to help reinfirce it or don't use any at all. The Velcro adhesive was good. I sewed it back together eventually and it was fine. ... show more

This thing is better than the other brands you normally see out there or in stores. The quality is so much better. The magnets are heavier and more durable and the installation was super easy and quick.
