I usually need to help him with the hook and loop closure since he can't see it, but I'm sure if he took 2 minutes he could figure out how to easily do it himself. My son needed a black bow tie for a highschool performance. When he was younger, we purchased the clip-on types. They inevitably ended up crooked or coming loose and falling off. Next we tried the tie-it-yourself type. My son has been wearing long ties for years as part of his school uniform. He is confident an adept at tying his own. Many men (doctors, executives etc.) have commented to him that they cannot get their own ties right the first time. My son’s bow tie tying skills? “Nope.” So we decided on this pre-tied adjustable bow tie from TINYHI. We received it as expected and were pleased with the look and feel. HOW TO: My son put his collar up, bow in front, and loosely wrapped the tail around his neck and back to the front. After clipping the tail in place (the clip mechanism is similar to those which secure overalls) he adjusted the fit. Once fit was complete he folded his collar back down. The bow tie -- which I needed for a formal Zoom event -- is actually the appropriate size for an adult, notwithstanding its name being TINY. Once I got it clasped, it looked fine, and at around $7, it was well-priced. I bought these bow ties for my husband and his groomsmen for our wedding. We ended up renting tuxes, and the bowtie that was supposed to come with the tux was floppy, large, and just looked terrible, so I ended up buying bowties for everyone. This was exactly what I was looking for a very inexpensive bowtie, it is adjustable and fits as expected. It is a clip on so I do not have tie it myself. I have not had to wash it yet, I am guessing when I do it will be fine under the hand washables and air dry.
