I have been looking for something that would allow my 9 yo to have a little more freedom while still being able to keep tabs & stay in contact. This watch checks all the boxes. The set up was easy & instructions provided along with QR scanning codes & videos. I love that I have to add the contacts & that texts (even an approved contact!) will be blocked outside of texting from the tick talk app. It's nice you can still call outside the app though. The call is clear, the video function works well. GPS is great- it locates off of the closet public hotspot so my child never shows up at home but one street over even though we are at home & connected to wifi. My 9 yo likes you can take pictures & customize it. The music is also nice but we can't figure out how to turn it off from using battery when you are done listening without shutting it off & turning it back on. We also purchased the charging base for ease of charging. My one suggestion for improvement might be a 2 band option- one shorter & longer as my child has to wear it on the very last hole. Overall, I've recommended this watch to others & very happy with the purchase & value for the money. We wanted something that would allow our child to be able to contact us when at a friend's house or when out in public but we did not want a smart phone. This is exactly what we were looking for. The pros: our son is able to contact us by phone or message any time he needs for emergencies or just to touch base. He loves that he is able to also listen to podcasts and music through his watch. So far the GPS seems fairly accurate but we haven't tested that feature very much. We also like being able to set up reminders through out the day for tasks, it keeps parent requests down to a minimum. The cons: we wish that the text messaging were done through our actual text messaging system on our phones and not only through the ticktalk app. It makes it cumbersome and it doesn't alert us to messages as well. When there are updates to the app it requires you to go through the entire setup menu for the watch again in order to get to the main menu/messaging etc. It would be better if that could be skipped as it takes a couple of minutes to go through the screens in order to use any of the features. We would also love an option to have different watch bands. The one that comes with the watch is durable but extremely hot in the summer. Overall we think it's was a good purchase and it's mostly what we were looking for. We'd purchase again. ... show more

My son is 8 years old, he really wants to have a mobile phone to make calls, but I am worried that he will spend too much time playing with the phone, and the teacher does not allow mobile phones on campus, so a watch that can make calls is the only choice. We bought the phone for our daughter and spent a couple hours setting it up and learning all of the features of the phone and the parental control app. I eventually completed the setup, choosing the Basic Plan, and successfully paired the watch with my phone and then my husbands phone. Initially, the location tracking was off by hundreds of miles, but with some trial and error, I fixed the problem. I've had no other major issues, but I'll discuss a few minor issues. Location accuracy is not everything I expect from a GPS device, but it works as advertised. Apparently, the location is often based on nearby public wifi rather than the location of the phone itself. I don't know if that's usual for GPS devices, but my phone seems a bit more accurate. The reported location is within the 100 feet advertised in the urban/suburban settings I've tested, and I'm happy enough with it, but I wonder whether the tracking feature works in a remote setting far from any public wifi router or cell tower. Battery life with modest use seems to be a day or so, but my daughter likes to stream music, use facetalk and play on apps, so I'm not sure the battery will last all day. The phone's screen dims and then turns off to save the battery, but the timeout can be frustratingly rapid. ... show more

Bought this watch for my 10 year old on his birthday and he loved it. The watch was easy to setup, it came with SIM card which was easy to install. Getting wireless service setup was easy too. It does what it is supposed to, easy to call with clear voice, has bunch of features which my kid is exploring. GPS tracking wasn't accurate in the beginning but is pretty accurate once an update was installed with the help of support team. I like the fact that parents can control with whom kid can interact.
