  • An absolutely phenomenal wheel for the price...
Style: F599XX EVO Add On
As an owner of WAY too many high end wheels and racing peripherals, it's really hard to understate what an incredible wheel this is for the price. 180 bucks is DIRT cheap when it comes to racing wheels - let alone steering wheels with integral button boxes and paddle shifters. I've owned some cheap sub 200 dollar 'Alcantara' ebay wheels before, and the quality and stitching of the Alcantara on the TM is much, much better. Feels incredible in the hand. Just for an example of the type of bargain this is - a stock Momo Mod 30 (one of the cheaper suede racing wheels, very popular for sim racing) will set you back 230 dollars for the wheel alone. No mounting options, and certainly no buttons or paddle shifter. You would obviously need to fabricate or purchase those items to be able to use it on a TM wheel base. The same wheel (Momo Mod 30) customized with an added button box, mounting hardware and shifter goes for (on average) about 600 dollars from custom sim hardware vendors online. Another huge factor is the weight. The TM 599XX Evo wheel, with all of its buttons, shifters and mounting hardware weighs as much as a bone stock Mod 30 with no add-ons (roughly 2.5 lbs). Add on the custom button box, shifters and mounting hardware and that makes for a ton of weight for a lower end wheel like a T500/300 to drive. You're going to lose a LOT of FFB feeling. Custom aftermarket wheels like this are really made to be driven by a high end servo wheel, with gobs and gobs of torque. If I didn't know the price points, and I had to compare a high end, customized Momo and the TM 599XX Evo wheel then of course the custom wheel would win hands down. There's really no question there. The Momo is an actual real-world racing wheel, designed to steer dedicated race vehicles, sometimes with no power steering. It is designed to handle tremendous amounts of torque and its feel and build quality definitely reflect that. The TM wheel is designed to handle the torque output of consumer grade sim racing wheels, roughly 4.5 N/m max (for reference, powerful servo wheels can easily output 5-6 times that amount of torque) and, similarly, it's construction reflects that as well. Also a lot of aftermarket sim-racing button boxes are of superb build quality, often using military grade switches and connectors and real carbon fiber housings. The TM 599XX Evo button box is, while well built and sturdy, made from consumer grade material like an Xbox or PlayStation controller. Like I said, no question as to which is a better overall piece of equipment. BUT!! With the knowledge that the custom high end wheel is easily 3-4 times the price, and knowing how much more it will weigh compared to the TM 599XX Evo (wheel weight is CRUCIAL for consumer wheels with lower torque output. Just an extra few ounces will drastically reduce the apparent feel of the force feedback) means there really is no comparison; the TM is the clear winner. As long as you go into this purchase realizing you are not buying an ultra high-end custom peripheral, you will be in love with this wheel. Especially if you are coming from a wheel OTHER than the T500 (the factory T500 wheel is a VERY, very nice wheel). The difference in quality and feel between the 599XX Evo and the factory plastic TX wheel is staggering. Overall, this wheel earns my ultimate praise and I have recommended it to everyone I know who owns a TM wheel base. Superb wheel at a great price. ... show more

  • Very nice Wheel!!!
Style: F599XX EVO Add On
First I should say I am not a long time "gamer" but have enjoyed playing a few games on Nintendo with our kids years ago. Working kept me busy and helping raise 4 kids so much of my time was spent supporting my family. I would play games when I could but didn't spend a lot of time doing so. Fast forward to just a few years ago I bought an Xbox 360 and began playing a few games and enjoyed it. Recently I purchased an Xbox One S as I enjoy/need better graphics due to my older years and older eyes at age 65. I find I enjoy playing racing car games so enter a steering wheel to better control and enjoy racing cars in Forza 6. My first steering wheel was the Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Spider Racing Wheel. It doesn't have FFB (force feed back) and uses a bungee type of system to help offer a minimal type of resistance while turning the wheel left to right. While I enjoyed using it I wanted more control in a wheel you can choose settings to increase/decrease that can really make a nice difference which simulates much more realism while driving cars in various racing games. I read many reviews on the steering wheel and found it gets high review marks and liked the bigger wheel diameter which in my mind feels better in my hands than the smaller steering wheel on the Thrustmaster 458 Racing Wheel. All of the buttons on the wheel work very well with positive inputs with one touch. The d-pad has a nice stiffness to it so using it as needed lets you know it works...every time!! The paddles have a nice click and positive input from them as well. With the larger wheel diameter I wondered if it would make it difficult to use the paddles but it did not for me. If you don't use pedals or a shifter you can do those functions on the wheel (depending on the game). The material used to cover the wheel feels soft and allows you to easily slide your hands around the wheel in turns, etc. My hands don't fatigue using this wheel but then I tend to pay attention to anything to do with comfort living with physical disabilities that cause me to be more aware. Mounting the wheel is a breeze. Simply line up the arrows (one on the wheel and one on the base) or look at the backside of the wheel where it attaches to the base and you'll see the small connector that can only connect to the base one way. Line them up and you place the wheel onto the base....screw the locking ring down snug and insert the provided screw to lock it down from moving. If your looking to upgrade your steering wheel and this type of wheel is what your interested in....don't worry about the quality of build or if it's a decent wheel....it is!! I'm happy with this wheel and would recommend it if you need/want a new wheel. They took time designing and building this wheel which allowed me to easily give it 5 stars. P.S. The photo shows wires hanging about but I've fixed them since taking the picture provided. Thrustmaster VG Ferrari 599XX EVO Wheel Add-On, Alcantara Edition for PS4, PS3, Xbox One & PC Again, thank you Amazon and Thrustmaster for making this wheel available!! ... show more

  • Quality for price.
Style: SF1000 Add-on Wheel
The paddles are really loud but super tactile and precise. The wheel size a grip feel is amazing. Overall for the price point and overall build and quality I’d recommend buying this wheel if you want to get into any type of sim racing.

  • Best F1 controller out there
Style: SF1000 Add-on Wheel
Very high quality and fun to use for open wheel racing game. Takes some time to set up the connection to get the display data to link to game. Screen only works with games that support it , keep that in mind. Be sure to check thrustmaster website for updated drivers and firmware

  • Broken and no help
Style: T818 Ferrari Base and Wheel
After spending nearly $1000 on this it came with the quick release adapter broken. I contacted Amazon and all they offered was a refund since I bought it on sale. Which is stupid because it came broken and I want it but I shouldn’t have to pay $200 more than I bought it for. I then contracted thrustmaster. They weren’t helpful either. They initially told me I could just purchase the piece. Again. Stupid why should I have to buy the broken piece when it arrived that way. They then had me send a video of it and they claimed it works be viewing that. But it is broken. It doesn’t clamp down completely like it’s supposed to. So it will eventually wear out a lot sooner. I would have thought by paying this much for an item they would help you out better when things arrive broken. Very dissatisfied with them and Amazon for not helping remedy this situation. ... show more
